and then you still think its okay to wear symbols that are directly related to the abnormal crimes done by the nazis?  i dont have to understand that, do i?

It doesn't matter what I think. That's the point.

The Greek Byzantine Empire was the best country of early middle ages in Europe.

In that case, Christianity and the cross should be banned in Germany since it too is linked to mass murder on a scale even greater than that of Nazi Germany.

lol sure

I think you might talk about Stalin, or Genghis Khan gang back in 13th century.

I´d move to any place where someone would love me.

Don't be that desperate.

No, you don't. But you do have to respect that it is someone's right to say and express themselves in any way they want as long as it does not directly threaten you.

There was a convent near my college. It made a lovely place to retreat for a weekend. I'd usually visit a month or so before exams and not take any books or study materials. Just fall into the routine and live quietly and simply. The cares and stress would just fall away.

I like knowing who the idiots are. I'd rather a fool express himself openly and honestly than pretend to be something else. It makes it easier to confront them and discredit them.

It'd be nice to go someplace where you don't have to worry about stuff like this in general. A place that's mostly homogenous in population or where everyone regardless of background still share a common identity.

It'd also be nice to get away from the rat race and sensory overload that comes with being an American citizen. Really, I feel mentally and emotionally exhausted and just wanna isolate myself, or just get in my car and drive off into the sunset.

You're telling me, I left New York City 4 years ago and moved further up the line, but people are still people even up here hundreds of miles away from the city. Everyone wants to look down on somebody else to make themselves feel superior. It's gotten so bad, I refuse to let people in, by that I mean into my personal life. It sucks but with so many lunatics and just down right awful people around its hard to say who's truly trying to be friendly and honest, and who's just trying to take advantage of you. I've given up on cable television, reserving my private time for web chatting, video games, or browsing websites. It doesn't help that I hate my job but love the money i make, and all my family lives in the deep south while im working away up north.

If I were Jewish I would find a person wearing a Nazi symbol highly threatening, as they make a statement that THIS is okay:

And that it is not directly threatening to you doesn't mean it's fine and you should look the other way and allow it. Expressing hatred and somehow idolizing mass murder is NOT a right and should under no circumstance fall under freedom of speech/expression. Those rights do not lend you the right to be scum and hurt others.

A few notes to the whole 'Germany is baaad' thing coming up: (I'm probably too late anyway)

-Yes pretty much everything connected to the NS regime is forbidden by law.*

BUT, there is only a fine connected to any of these and a myriad ways to circumvent this. The only person I know of, who actually had to go to court over doing the Hitlergruß was a weirdo 'artist', who insisted on doing that everywhere -claiming it was 'art'.

*Besides -yes these laws are moronic. Results of the '40s/50s and wanting to get away from the Nazi stigma asap. (IMO the whole time appears pretty hypocritical nowadays -both sides of the ocean)

Back on topic:

I wouldn't want to live in the US (I'm german, as you can tell by now). Sweden or Norway maybe (damn costly), or Canada ( ) -but there are so many mosquitoes :pinched:.

South Africa is also really nice, (at least I heard so repeatedly by different people, which is more than I can say for the 2 first named).

Honourable mention of places I'd probably like to live, go to the Netherlands and Denmark.

Or right here, if we can get our politicians back on track** (this seems to be a problem everywhere, though).

**Or get better clones of the ones we have now.

Addendum:

I find the Idea that any country is 'the best' (all around) pretty ignorant (thus I'm maybe out-ignorancing the ignorants!)

As I said, I like knowing who they are, so I am very much in favour of them self-identifying. Further, it seems to be working as the Aryan racist types now number, in this country, in the hundreds, and possibly in the tens. Their cause is dying even faster than the Flat Earthers.

Id agree that things like the Nazi salute or overly Nazi stuff being banned in Germany, the swastika should be ok tho, it was a good luck/religious symbol long before it got stolen by Nazi Germany

Hey I know midterms didn't go well.

But I don't think right now there is that much of a Nazi problem here.

That said Nazis have the rights to be Nazis.

But they should go f**k off and die.

Your personal feelings do not supersede the Constitution. Why can't people understand this concept?

Nazi's are scum. And they should all get Christmas cards sent them in the form of 5.56 FMJ ball rounds.

The proper response to public idiocy is public mockery. One of the major forces in humour is rage or anger. The proper response to fascism is this.

“The devil… that proud spirit… cannot endure to be mocked.”.- Sir Thomas More, altho' Luther wrote something very similar.

In the U.S.? I think there are still a few more than just hundreds...

I mean David Duke has a youtube channel now, such are the times we live in, and has 48000 subscribers.

I dunno how many international racists would pay attention to some KKK pond scum, maybe a lot I suppose.

Because the Constitution should aim to protect all and make everyone feel safe, not just the hateful idiots. Freedom of speech and expression of beliefs is all well and good, until it verges into the territory of racism or discrimination. Those are also prohibited here by law, and so freedom should be weighed against these harmful beliefs. Could someone walk around in the US with a T-shirt giving a thumbs up to 9/11 without getting shot? You know, expression and all that.

great "argument" you have there...

Your personal feelings do not supersede the Constitution. Why can't people understand this concept?

you mean the constitution which allows every idiot to buy and use a gun? i will never understand this concept. but hey, thats okay, because you obviously cant understand what the nazis have done in europe and why things related to them, like the swastika or the SS-symbol, should (and are) be banned .

I've lived here my whole life, and I haven't been fortunate enough to ever have had the opportunity to even visit a country outside of America. By the time I obtained the means to do so, I had 2 children, a wife and a household to care for so travelling and exploring the world and all it has to offer has to wait.

To answer your question: it's difficult to say where I'd like to go since I don't have any experience with other countries. I will simply say that lately, America has given me plenty reason to want to live elsewhere and if the choice had to be made, I would pick up and leave for the sake of my family. Part of me cringes at the idea of picking up and leaving and not knowing where we'll land; the rest of me is excited by this and looks forward to the unknown.
