So, as an owner of all DA and ME games I kinda feel like my feedback should matter a bit and I got really disappointed when I discover I could only map 4 abilities in Multiplayer instead of the (only) 8 like in single player.

After beating the single player with all side quests I could only think in building a character for Multiplayer similar to my Main Single player char. As I progress I try to acquire all my favorite abilities as fast as I could, and when I acquire my 5th ability I got that "Surprise MotherF*cker!" feeling and I'm like "whyyyyyyy?!" just doesn't feel fair and it kinda takes out all the fun (the proof of that is that I never played MP again after I discover that).

Serious? what was BW thinking? I know with EA all that matters is making money and by making us to use potions is another way for players to waste money, but by ruining the fun, I'm not sure if much people will want to invest in their MP chars.

So please my good people, lets make this reach BioWare, just put one "I agree" or justify why you do or you don't. As for me, I'm just returning to MP if they make this change.

8 skills, 16 points in them, 4 points in passives. Make such a build in some generator and then write anything.

Edit: 14 points in skills, forgot that basic ones are free.

4 slots are limited for potions, I'm not saying we should have those extra 4 slots just for abilities but I think we should do what ever we want with them, If I have 5 abilities I should be able to Map them...

No, you can't do this. You will make every mage class OP as hell. Fade cloak and Fade walk upgraded with whatever other skills you want?

Jesus, you thought Arcane Warrior was OP? imagine a Necromancer with 4 seconds of invincibility every 12 seconds, can heal with kills and set of mass explosions and take 1/2 damage from all sources.

No…4 is just fine.

I think 4 is fine as well, not only to keep it simple, but to allow for more different types of builds.

Also, you are not limited to one character or one playthrough, similar to what you have in single player. In DA MP its not about one character but your whole account, character selections and items you can use across those characters.

It's not just about building one avatar.

Yeah, I thought that would be cool, but also it would be overkill in a way.  Having only four abilities makes you step up the game a bit.

What I would like to see, is the ability to create 2-3 custom builds instead.  As with Titanfall we would be able to switch out loadout in session (this is based on currently not being able to choose enemy in the MP settings).  Basically, as you receive your ability points you can upgrade each custom build as you go, and choose the appropriate build based on the enemy you face.

Point being, is that as it is, I would love to have one build vs Demons, and one vs Venatori/Red Templars, but keeping in mind BW may expand DAMP to include other enemy types, so 2-3 custom builds would be cool.

Console limitation lol. They'd have to get rid of potions so that you could use combinations for +4 abilitles (LT+Y, etc). Feel free to hax your PC game if you want but you'll be sorely disappointed to find you can't get all your skills off because you keep running out of stamina/mana.

I'm all for giving players choices rather than limitation (if balanced is maintained) however with 8 abilities my SpeedRuns would turn into SpeedWreckage I think. I'd like to try it out for a day. BioWare pls.

There's plenty of button combos if the UI was adjusted slightly.

eg:  remove sprint (making default speed sprint)

L3 = comms wheel (over here, etc)

targeted enemy + L3 = attack my target quickly

You now have the 4 d-pad buttons x L2, for 8 more button combos.  Add in the original 8 for 16 skill/potion assignments.  So no, you could easily have 4 potions and 8 abilities.  I don't think it's a good idea, but you could.

... you'll be sorely disappointed to find you can't get all your skills off because you keep running out of stamina/mana.

Surely you just have to use a bit of thought to manage your stamina/mana.  The expectation would not be "i can use all my skills', but i can use 4 skills like before, or 5/6/7/8 in a managed manner, or a mix up to 4 like i used to.

Personally i find potions rather lacklustre - i'd love to see the stats on their usage rate - so allowing 8 slots just generally for a combination of potions/abilities as the player wishes would be a good thing.

eg: 4/4 potions/abilities,  or 3/5 potions/abilities, or even 0/8 potions/abilities.

Let players vote with their button assignments how worthwhile they think potions are.

I would have liked to have more than 8 abilities in both SP and MP.

but the whole thing is designed with us only using 4. It'd break balance to double the number of active skills available at this point.

Why the hell do you need more than 4?

In other words, no.

Let players vote with their button assignments how worthwhile they think potions are.

Potions are pointless, but that's just MHO. I only use health pots. It's not just the UI that would need to be re-designed if they went beyond 8. They'd have to open up the joystick configuration options for players. I never said it was impossible. The combo selections just have to "make sense".  The game is fast-paced and the target-mode spells (barrier, fire mine, etc) are already a bit slow and use confirmation dialogs. This makes spell casting clunky when you kick off a spell when trying to confirm/cancel an AoE spell. I put all my AoE spells on B (to avoid casting an insta-spell on cancel). I can't begin to tell you the number of times I've been dropped by DC while trying to cast Barrier because my character decided to Jump (A) instead of cast (A to confirm). I don't know how PC players would feel about it but I'd rather have the AoE skills self-cast and selected-target than roam-set.

Also not the mention the "everything on A/X" (actions all on one button for console players). I'd much rather have the ability to separate jump, revive, action (objective), and casting spells/abilities. I never saw a need for 4 shouts. One or two is sufficient. That would open up two or more slots. Sprint can't be removed (in it's current state) because "always-sprint" would cause ani-cancel looping when you'd try to move and auto-attack at the same time. They'd have to change the auto-attack behavior first.

So we're actually in agreement on both points. It's not just the management aspect. You're going to be sacrificing passives and sub-abilities for more abilities. This is all speculative. I'd have to actually test it out to see how well plus-4 would work out. Perhaps BW will slip up and make another 6/6/6 glitch so I can find out.

If they created a harder difficulty beyond Perilous and raised the level cap to 25-30 I'd give it a nod (perhaps restricting plus-4 to the higher difficulties).

Exactly; it isn't necessary with only two trees.

People seem to be forgetting stamina costs as well. Even if you could slot 8 abilities you wouldn't be able to use them all.

Dumb suggestion is dumb.

I had thought it was obvious that if we had 8 abilities BioWare would change our mana/stamina pools to support that.

but apparently it wasn't, according to this thread =P

But how to balance it so smart players don't just stick to the four best abilities with cooldown enhancing passives/upgrades and double the stamina?
