Wait, what are you on about? Did you even read any of that? I said I was pro 4 ability slots lol, perhaps you should finish reading people's replies before making comments like this. And somehow you think by having every single ability that would encourage more diversity?
4 balanced abilities encourages more diversity than everyone having everything.
Petition to Map 8 abilities instead of being limited with just 4

3? lol
dont remember, just ran thru that c*ap to get 100% readiness
but real dragon age fans are used to have it like thiso 8 in SP is very little as well and 4 in MP even less lol
I actually played origins a lot (nightmare only of course). Each game's combat had its strong points ( wish SP DAI had DA:O tactics). My dual wield warrior pretty much just used 4 abilites ( whirlwind, dual weapon sweep, flurry, punisher). Momentum is a passive by DAI standards.
You are comparing apples to oranges.
I like to eat both.

the whole point of only being able to have 4 skills is for you to choose the best ones that work for you and your play style.
having everyone in mutiplayer to have 8 skills would just be OP. if you cant learn to play with only 4 skills then maybe mutilplayer isnt for you

8 -> no
5 -> I could see it useful on some builds. Especially with 5 abilities / 3 potions. Who needs 4 potions?

I hate having only four skill slots, but I understand why it's needed in multiplayer.
Still bad design overall, IMO. But it's needed..

Console limitation lol.
It is? The console UI would be much better with five abilities (LB, RB, X, Y, B ), I very much dislike the health potion hotkey on LB.

A gross oversimplification on my part. You have to remember that console/console games are designed with casual gamers in mind. They don't offer up alot of wiggle room when it comes to controller configuration (remapping, etc) and don't have as many options as a K&M. In other words, it's dumbed-down. Sure they could use button combinations, like with fighter games (light tap, hold, multiple-button presses), but the combos still have to make sense to the "average player". Even if they did, the layout is often very restrictive.

from a technical standpoint probably not possible, I think 5 would be a good number with one slot being reserved as a specific class ability: like stealth for dagger rogues and shield wall for tanks

I do wish it was at least clearer that MP is more limiting than SP. Just bought a 5th skill on my Templar thinking I could map all 5. Now I have to carry around a useless ability point until and unless I'm willing to prestige her. ![]()

On my first build I did choose 5 or even 6 active abilities on some classes just to try things out.
All you miss is a couple of less interesting passives.

4 is better for diversity and multiple builds with the same character ![]()

I feel hampered by 4 sometimes, I mean I only have so much mana/stamina to use. With so many potions available, I'd like to carry 5 potions, or even 6 depending on the class.

You mean to tell me people use more than their basic attacks to kill stuff? That people want everything and don't want to strategize in what is supposed to be a condensed mode? ![]()

Perhaps in the next DA, I would like to see 8 ability slots (along with a full radial menu for potions!!)....complimented by much larger ability trees, and more importantly, much, MUCH more difficult enemies to fight against.
Not difficult in the sense that they have more HP and do more damage, but difficult in the sense that the AI is more advanced, more aggressive, uses better tactics, etc. Ie, there is more variety and complexity to a fight (especially boss fights), as opposed to "I need to hit it harder, for longer".
