Heads up for folks worried about the Steam version having the issues that retail/EA store copies have with the cerberus network, promo codes, etc. They all worked FINE. So one less thing to worry about, Bioware devs.

I followed this process:

1) Logged into the social site
2) My Games - Register PC Mass Effect 2 w/ key from Steam; no problem
3) Registered the promo/dde codes and cerberus; again, no problems. You have to load ME2 once through Steam and get ingame before you can install any DLC. I've done this and are installing the DLC as I type this. However I /am/ getting a 'this program did not install correctly' promp in Win7. I'm chalking this up to a harmless bug and are ignoring it for now.
4) Right-clicked on ME2 within Steam itself and registered it on EA
5) Launched ME2, got the 'log into your EA account prompt'. Did so with the same account I used for Dragon Age. Cerberus works and is giving me news updates. Zero problem.

Once all the DLC finishes installing (using the executables downloaded from here) I'll load up ME2, confirm they installed correctly and update this post. So folks outside of NA that bought via Steam don't worry. We wont have any of the retail problems.

I just get a "Please wait while steam unlocks game files" message when I try to launch the game. Then nothing...

^ That is exactly what is happening to me right now. I'm really hoping that it's just traffic or something

I had the same issue but found a fix.  After you register on the social netowrk, restart Steam and run ME2 again.

Hope that helps.

Only problem I've had is ingame, I've had graphics corruption leading to a system crash twice. Might check for new video drivers then give it a whirl.

Same for me.  I can see "Decrypting 0%" before the menu closes again.

DLC works and everything? I was a little worried after reading the 9000 posts about it not working

The issues I'm having might not be only Steam, but since I purchased it there I figure I might mention them here.

The sound in the beginning videos isn't synced properly for me. It starts shortly after you first see the Normandy. The lines are given but then after a few seconds do I see their lips move. Its actually pretty distracting =/ I hope the rest of the game isn't like this, but I haven't had the desire to go through past that section, I just quit out of the game and try to fix it >.<

Sorry that took awhile, that intro sequence is a bit long but enjoyable!

Seems all the DLC is working fine. I haven't gotten far enough to check the weapons or Zaeed but all the armor works. Running around in the Inferno armor right now looking a bit like Iron Man.

Oh yea; ME1 character import worked as well. Pointed it toward my ME1 save folder with the config utility and imported my L60 Shep with no problems.

-edit-

In fact the only issue I can see at this point is that ME2 is no longer showing under My Games on the left hand side. Yet as everyone can see I've got the red 2 under my name.

Small non-issue. Time to play for a few hours :D

Took awhile to get the Normandy but everything shows up on the personal terminal. Info about all the armor, the incisor rifle, Zaeed; ALL the dlc works perfectly. I was a bit lazy and used the steam overlay to make this post so I wouldn't have to quit the game, hah

I'm still stuck at the EA login 'Please wait' but oh well.

Could be a port issue. I added the ports for Steam and DA:O a few months ago and I didn't encounter that problem. Odds are ME uses the same ports as DA so you may want to try that.

Here's a post about the ports needed for DA:O. I'm willing to bet following these directions, only swapping DA:O for ME2 will do the trick. Both DA and ME2 connect to the same EA network.

http://social.biowar.../index/422094/1

I doubt it's due to a problem with the ports Steam uses, but here are those if you need them:

Good luck!

Is registering with EA required for the DLC? I can't see anything about it on the EA site.

FIX FOR STEAM USERS WHERE IT GOES TO UPDATE AND JUST CLOSES:

Right-click your Steam incon in your task bar and click Exit. Now, re-open Steam. It will begin unecrypting the files and you will then be able to play.
