Thats funny because I am having major issues with my Steam purchase. The instant I try and run the game it "encounters an error and is forced to close". It never even has a chance to pop up. I've done everything I can think of to fix any issue that might be causing it. However it seems I am out 50 dollars, since Steam support is also non-existent.
Happy to report ZERO issues with the Steam version.

This is the problem I have, I did somehow get lucky and could start a female new game but after the intro and the DNA reconstruction it locks up with an apphang error on the loading screen to actually start the game. Forced quit and then tried again and sure enough the moment I hit new game and select a gender male and female it locks up at the normandy loading screen at the 708655 number.

cive and talchin, sounds like these problems are unrelated to steam, you may check you system specs and drivers.(steam should have already installed dirextx and physx, check your gfx card drivers)
