It was an ice barrier and Dorian had a fire staff, but his attacks did next to nothing.
You know what helped?
Solas's Static Cage 
while Greed kept using Devour (didn't use any stamina, because the Attack "failed") and Pommel Strike.
I had to switch between those three and slowly whittle it down.
Edit:

Or, also involving another past-crush, it may have had something to do with a certain mix-up regarding Hawke.
This Hawke rather liked Cullen back in their Kirkwall days, and upon realizing how she looked strikingly similar to Cullen's new girlfriend, decided she's use the situation to her... advantage. Inquisitor Trevelyan was not pleased
