 So we know that Serra is well the youngest and Solas the oldest but what age  do you all think the other companions have?

Cassandra's at least late 30's since she had to have been at least 16 during Dawn of the Seeker 20 years prior. Cole's a sprit, he doesn't count. Blackwall probably 48 at least: He's mentioned joining the tourney and then going to Val Royeux in his Codex entry and he mentions to Solas he went there for the first time 30 years ago, making him anything from 48-50. Dorian mentioned arranged marriage leading to his departure so likely late 20's. Iron Bull late 30's most likely since he's an expert/veteran Ben Hassrath and he's been undercover for years. Vivienne not sure since she might be reducing her age with potions to at least LOOK younger. Varric is exactly 40 since he was born on 9:01 dragon.

There was a twitter post about Blackwall being in his 40s same as Solas.  Cassandra, yeah probably closer to late 30s to 40.

The only one that I am relatively sure about is Blackwall, because he's supposed to be in his mid-40s. It was stated somewhere in the Blackwall thread that this was the approximate age given by one of the devs for him.

With the exception of Serra we have only experienced people in our Inquisition so she must be very talented to be accepted at such a young age in such a institution full of veterans and in such high standing.

Vivienne was something of a prodigy so she might be younger than she seems.

I think the only ones that can really be deducted are Leliana, Cullen, Cassandra and Sera.

 

Leliana already mentions that "I think I look younger than I am" in the first Dragon Age game, which leads me to beleive she was at least late 20s or early 30s then, since people who are younger than 26~28ish don't usually say things like that, unless they look like teenagers, which Leliana doesn't. My guess is early 40s in DA:I

 

Cassandra is a young woman in her movie which is stated to be 20 years prior to Inquisition. Going from that I think Cassandra is 38 at the youngest, assuming she's 18 in that movie.

 

Sera says she was a very young girl during the blight. I think somewhere between 8 and 12 going at what she says, but honestly she's probably in a state where she don't even know her own age, pssoibly because of her special circumstance growing up maybe she was just mroe childish at an older age. Regardless, I'm saying that she's 18-24.

 

Cullen is a young man in DA:O, he mentions not taking on full templar duties until he's 18 so he's at least that old. I'd like to say he's probably a little bit older bu maybe not a lot. So he's probably between 28 and 32.

 

One could make a guess at Josephine going from Leliana since they knew each other since before Dragon Age Origins timeline, still younger than her though. So I'd say 30 just for a clean number, I think Bioware wants her to appear younger than that.

Cassandra states that she was fresh out of training during the events of her movie, which took place in 9:22. Cullen states that Templars get out of training at 18; given Cassandra's statements regarding the seeker order and how young they tend to begin training, it's reasonable to assume they take on responsibilities at 18, like Templars.

 

DAI starts off in early 9:41, 18-19 years later.

They could well be in their forties. The elven mage is the only combination I can think of that imposes limits on the player character's age, as an apprentice to their Keeper they would presumably be relatively young.

One of the devs said that the Inquisitor is of some indeterminate age between 20 and 40.

Even with the elven mage, it's possible that their Keeper is just pretty old. I would imagine that if your Keeper lived a long life, you'd just continue being First until your turn came. Unless maybe another clan was in dire need of a mage? I'm not sure how it works. I think there's enough wiggle-room to explain an older elven mage though.

I picture Cullen to be about 24 in DAO, so he would be mid 30's IMO.

 

Leliana was on the older side in DAO, maybe 28, so she is probably in her late 30's now.  I think Vivian is selling her and Morigan some of her beauty cream.

I even imagine that elven mages are quite older. Being the First mean be ready to be Keeper whenever the needs might arise (remember Lanaya from DA:O)? So it even impose a minimum of being not very very young (like 16 years old young). I would even say roughly 30-40 might be quite reasonable. The keeper won't send a super young person who knows nothing to the Conclave right?

 

But afterward, it depends on how long the elven mage had been "prepared" as First. Merrill was given to the Sabrae Clan & trained as First starting 4 years old.

I'm kind of surprised he's only 40. In DA2 he struck me as a dude approaching middle-age who still insists on hanging out with Hawke and crew like this:

Interesting enough I've been getting impression lately that Dorian is younger than the looks.  He makes a good game at looking and acting older but my gut says 23-25 based on the little angers and insecure moments that speak of someone on the cusp between young adult and real adult experience.  I really never gave it a thought until a pattern began to emerge.  The caring a bit too much about what the people he likes think of him.  The fact he's still caught between the concept of Father as a person with flaws vs. Father as object of worship.  That's not to include the anger which is entirely justified.   

 

I'm not sure how long ago the arranged marriage was but most great houses didn't wait around.  Oh and there is everyone 30+ consistently referring to him as "young man".  I want to think of him as 28-30 but there are just too many little things that say otherwise despite the manly build and 'stache.  Just a feeling, though. 

Everyone else outside of Sera and Cullen I tend to view as 35+.
