No, she just failed in her course in Elven-Arrogance. All elves in fantasy have to take that class.
That's why she wears fancy Orlesian armor?
On a side note, I find it really funny that the devs apparently thought elf body is too ugly for a companion, so they gave her human body type (probably the only reason she can wear human armors and not elven ones). Solas doesn't have a normal shoulders-less elf body either, though I believe his body type actually changes into regular one when he wears elf armor.

She's an elf whether she likes it or not; the greedy BSN cannot take her.

Ever saw someone trying to walk in the high heels for the first time? Even though they fit them?Because they fit her? training doesn't matter to wear clothes. how much did you have to train to wear those shoes?
Or heck, a kid learning how to tie their shoes?

Yea this bugged the **** out of me too, she is obviously an elf, she should equip elf stuff, just because she doesn't consider herself an elf I mean its dumb she is obviously an elf whether she likes it or not.
One, modders and such have confirmed that she has the human female body type, and two, most elven stuff is Dalish I believe, and she is a City elf.

When did Alistair become half elf? Thought his sister was human?
Alistair's mother is Fiona, and she's definitely an elf.

She's an elf whether she likes it or not, but she also refuses to wear elf stuffs whether you like it or not. If you date her, she WILL break up with you if you become too "elfy". She doesn't like to associate herself with being an elf. It's just a way for the story to influence the gameplay.

Or she doesn't want to dress like a Dalish prig. That's my theory, anyway.

The woman he thought was is sister is a human. Alistair's mother has been confirmed to be Fiona, the leader of the mage rebellion (as was hinted in the The Calling).

It's not a bug. Asides from her dislike of elves, her body is human female, so those armors wouldn't match her body type. Lore-wise and design wise, that's why she can equip human only armor and not elves.

Yeah and her ears are made of rubber...
Listen, I get it, some people have headcanons but canonically Sera is an elf. Maybe she chooses not to be elf-y but it doesn't change her biology and blood
Plus the main reason we see little difference in body types in games like this is difficulty of implimenting it. Saying that elves can't be wider or bigger than an average thin model is like saying that asians can't be overweight or tall and middle-east people can't have blue/green eyes and blonde hair. It might be genetically rarer but it is still possible. Even if rare. Or super rare. Still - possible

Story-wise, she's an elf who doesn't want to be too elfy. No one argues that elves can't be bigger, game design wise, each race has specific armor made to fit the body. Each body type has a set of armor built into it. Seeing as Sera using a human type body, if they put in an elf armor, her body would be out of proportion. That is why you can see Solas wearing an elf rogue armor even if he can't equip it but you can't do the same for Sera because Solas still has an elf body type while Sera has a human body type. I'm talking about game design and why Sera can't even see wearing it because there is no model for human body to equip elf armor in game. It's not a bug, it's because Bioware designer didn't build elf armor for human body type which Sera uses.

Which means that she is still an elf
And it does seem more like a bug than anything else. Or laziness, not sure what's worse

Well, it would break character for Sera to wear elf items when she refuses to identify as such to wear elf related items. If you think your character's agency should supersede characterization then be my guest. In that case, I want to romance Cullen as a guy.
It's game decision, not a bug, a bug would be an unintended result. This is intentionally as Sera was used a human body, that is why she can equip human only items but not elf only items because her designed body can only wear armor made for humans as there is no elf armors made with human body in-game.

Characters being able to wear armour is not characterization, that's a game mechanic. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to make Morrigan wear a chantry robe and Vivienne... some of the most hideous clothes one can ever find in bright unmatching colours
Really. Tis just laziness or a bug, nothing more. A fitting one, but still

Seriously? You're comparing DAO with DAI. 2 different games. If they decide that this game should be more emphasize on character then it would make sense for Sera to not be wearing any elf stuffs. Find an example from this game for comparison if you want to go that route.

You all fight over the strangest things on this board. Unless the dev's say otherwise, I'm going to assume that the Sera armor issue is a bug, but if it is intentional I'm okay with that too. Happy happy!

It seems like people refuse to accept that human body with elf armors don't exist which Sera has, that is why Sera can wear human only armor. It could be laziness or a conscious decision to fit with her character disliking being too elfy, but it's not a bug. Just do some logical thinking.

Maybe it takes special training to be able to walk around without shoes Dalish-style, hah!
Actually if you look at barefoot people IRL they have callouses and stronger muscles in their feet which we don't develop since we use shoes whenever we're walking outdoors.Since Sera was raised by humans and was likely raised with shoes from the start she never adapted to walking barefoot and thus she would likely find it very painful to walk around without shoes.

Laziness seems more likely. Since she has human female body type, they would have to remodel all elven armors for her (or make her suddenly shrink when she's wearing that kind of clothes). But if they did that, then why exactly human female PCs couldn't wear that as well? And if they could, then human characters would be even more blatantly privileged in clothes department than they are now.
