Only thing I use my mounts for is, when I go visit Blackwall, I'll visit my mount and change it to a different mount. It's like redecorating my stable with my mount choice. ![]()
Does anyone else actually use mounts?

They're pointless.
They're slow, you miss out on banter (if you're not already missing it due to bugs), your party disappears in a puff of smoke, you can't do combat or loot stuff while on them, and the animation generally looks bad.
Honestly, I just wouldn't have minded if they limited mounts to NPCs riding around on horses and such to make the environments a bit more lively. But apparently, the Inquisitor is the only person in Thedas that can ride a horse.
People kept asking for mounts so Bioware caved. A mount is at least faster than walking, so I can press "g" in places like the hissing wastes.

I can't use the mounts with the stupid looking wind shear effect when running. It's just too ridiculous to look at. And of course, there is no party banter when on a mount.

Wow, that got way more responses than I expected.
So I guess the public opinion seems to lean very slightly towards "nope, not missing anything." ![]()

The amount of resources that were dedicated to mounts could've been spent on more QA honestly, maybe fleshing out the zones, or hell even more of a variety of textures on the character models.
I decided never to use a mount after my horse got stopped mid-run by a pebble, and even moreso when I saw the dreadful dracolisk skin.

I wish we could ride down enemies and use lances on them.

I use them to jump from great heights, it reduces the damage to zero.

My response after a few hours of playing is usually "Oh right, I have a mount".
and then I just go back to walking everywhere because I enjoy hiking through the environments and listening to companion commentary.

Mostly no.
Hissing wastes I did though. Not a fan of that area really. I guess that was the last area they did. Very uninspired.

I started to find them useful in the Hissing Wastes.
And it makes some pretty nice pictures ![]()

Beyond the Hinterlands quest, I haven't used the mounts in over 200 hours of play.
1 I dislike mounting and dismounting for combat. Skyrim has this as well, but the follower system in Skyrim is much less sophisticated, which leads to...
2 It seems weird to have my party disappear when mounting and reappear when dismounting. In addition to the weirdness, I have a dread of missing out on party banter, so I try to run around as much as possible. I tend to only use fast travel for very long distances as well.

I should use them a lot more. I've given up on banter at this point.

300 hours of gameplay and I can count the times I've actually used my mount on one hand.

I just use them to jump up to areas that the devs did not intend.
Also a necessity in the Hissing Wastes unless you have a lot of time on your hands.

Man, all the times I've said "**** it" and jumped and taken the hit on my health, time to start mounting up more...
I actually like their design, but yeah, banter is sparse enough as it is. It would be cool if your companions could mount up, too. Now that would feel pretty inquisitorial.

Lol, yeah I had no idea I could use the mount to avoid fall damage. Thanks BSN!

There's a grand total of ninety minutes of party banter in a game that takes about 60 hours to complete and most of the trigger points are in dungeons, interiors and bottlenecks where you'd dismount anyway. You miss nothing by riding to places.
Besides, trampling nugs is funny.

no i don't use them, i want to hear what banter i can when i can , i wish they would of used the mount budget and such for hair and more party member cut scenes and such.

Almost never. I have a couple of times, but I'm usually too busy gathering resources, or looking for new quests or shards along the way. I also love hearing party banter, and quick travel takes care of the rest of my needs. The mount is a nice idea and all, but one that makes no difference to me. Not an idea I ever asked for personally, but I'm happy for the people that wanted them.
Some of those screenshots are pretty awesome though. ![]()

I used it a few times. I probably would've used it more but the mounts seemed to handle really poorly.
