only to jump off cliffs
This.
Also, it would be great if companions could ride along so we still get the banter.

I didn't use them, saw no point. Then I got to the Hissing Wastes. Also useful for getting around ares you've almost completely cleared like the Hinterlands.
No, I havn't ever used a mount...to be honest I would feel bad about riding one while my companions have to trot along on foot...isn't that funny?
They disappear into shadows and become ninjas who can move super fast. I say they get the better end of the deal.
With banter having such wide gaps as it is, I don't use them anymore so I can up my chances of getting more of it. Also, the way the mount system works always bugged me a little. The horse and companions switching places in limbo just doesn't look right.
if only the entire party rode a horse and Varric traveled on the back of Cassandra's horse or somdthing AND if you could youse your bow or sword while on the mount.
Was kind of hoping for some horseback duels and perhaps some charging battle sequences in real time but **** YOU BIOWARE! lol jk. Great game but Witcher 3 will defy human nature.
I love my Halla!!!
I don't know why but hearing its roar makes me happy. I pretend it's Yaku from Mononoke... ![]()
Best mount. Ever.
I didn't use mounts for the first 40h or so, but now that I've been to all the different locations, I like using my mount to revisit places and wrap up stuff. They are pretty useless and not particularly fast, but it just feels great to ride around. I love how you can climb up mountains with them. Or just jump down without taking damage. Those mounts are badass! ![]()
Sometimes it's small things that delight me to no end. Like that high-pitched sound the nugs make. Cute as hell! I love all the animals in the game.
I hope Bioware keeps the mounts. They need improvement, but ever since Ocarina of Time, I love mounts in games. Few RPGs I've played actually had any, though. A shame.

I use mounts all the time, mostly for RP reasons. They do come in handy when trekking over long distances though.
Used mounts once, hated the fact that sprint is tied to pressing the left stick in plus they move like snails, haven't used one since.
Mounts are very helpful. I really like having them as an option. Sprinting on a mount is a good way for me to reach an area of interest when I DON'T want to be slowed down by everything on the way. I'm already so overleved for the main quest that I DON'T want to do all the quests in the last couple of regions I'm exploring. I'll save those my next playthrough. But I DO want to complete the main objective in each region, and a mount allows me to get to those locations much faster.
(Considering that I've used a mount in every zone, I've only gotten knocked off ONCE. I don't have any of the saddle upgrades. It's easy to avoid enemies on mounts. If I come across a large enemy party, then yes, I dismount and attack).
i was curious how the mounts looked, bought all but one then felt very sad that i spent so much for them
Not often. The speed increase isn't fast enough to be worth the tradeoff of picking up treasure and party banter.
I rarely use my mount (except in the Hissing wastes). Considering the amount of elfroot (and other herbs) I need to harvest, I'd rather not miss it.
if you don't use your mount in hissing waste, your gonna have a boooooooooring time because "this space has nothing but... space"
Not at all, up until I got to the Hissing Wastes where it's basically mandatory unless you like playing a running simulator.
Actually I've used them quite a lot - always riding on a hart! I like the look of them and I've pretty much given up with party banter so why not.
I do.
It's the only way I can ever manage to herd that $#^&ing halla in the Exalted Plains.
I've barely used any mounts. I have an uncontrollable impulse to collect and investigate everything as thoroughly as possible, so travelling on foot is typically my preference. I also just enjoy taking in the game's environments at a slower pace.
When this question was asked on Reddit it was the same answer - never other than in hissing wastes.
As a dwarf inquisitor going from really small to really big makes mounts FEEL slower so I never ever used them. I realise they're not actually slower but god it was like molasses.
I used to think mounts were a geographic feature until I discovered Smirnoff War Nugs.
I used it a lot when I first got it but then kinda missed the party banter. Now I only use it if I have a long way to go and can't fast travel. Or that one time I had to run through dragon territory and didn't want to fight the dragon.
