Can anyone tell me the best way to make Fenris not so friend-killing; does that apply to tactics as well as passives?
What's the consensus on putting a point in Giant Reach - is it really necessary?

He won't be half as useful without Giant's Reach - his strength is in his AoE. The best way to use him on NM - is to have ranged group with him as sole melee, and the tactics of the rest set to Ranged behavior, so they'll try to keep distance from the foes (and eventually from him.) Taking control of him also helps a great deal.

Use two mages, one ranged rogue and Fenris. Give Fenris all of his AoE abilities, give him barrier (you can do it two times) and rain down AoE spells with your mages down on where Fenris has the aggro of all enemies. He will be immune thanks to barrier and him and your mages will destroy everything while your rogue focuses on targets with high hp who who won't die to the AoE.
My team was: Mage Hawke, Vengeance Anders, Varric, Fenris.
