Don't know if anyone's asked this before but here's my answers.
1. Favorite area. I like the wide open spaces of the Western Approach and the Hissing Wastes the best. The desert has its own open beauty with its hidden water holes. Reminds me of Arizona, and Dune. I actually take a deep, satisfying breath when I arrive there. I also like the sense of late Tevinter, early Chantry and ancient dwarves who were Surfacers there. I can almost feel the dry, hot air on my skin, and the curl relaxing from my hair when I fast travel there. I love the night-time desert of the Hissing Waste as well. All I need is a Stillsuit and a Worm to ride.
2. Least Favorite area. The Exalted Planes. The mess, the ramparts with their smell of blood, excrement, burning bodies, decaying flesh, and that sense of useless waste and devastation. I hate going there, and I only do the quests I feel are absolutely necessary there. Can't wait to leave. The sadness, the futility, the sense that no one ever learns from the mistakes of the ancestors. (You'd think the Mire would be the worst, but it isn't sad in the same way the plains are sad.)
I cannot say how much I enjoy visiting the various areas, even those that fill me with unease. I think the artists did a fantastic job of creating ecosystems. Bravo to the artistic team.
