Don't know if anyone's asked this before but here's my answers.

1. Favorite area. I like the wide open spaces of the Western Approach and the Hissing Wastes the best. The desert has its own open beauty with its hidden water holes. Reminds me of Arizona, and Dune. I actually take a deep, satisfying breath when I arrive there. I also like the sense of late Tevinter, early Chantry and ancient dwarves who were Surfacers there. I can almost feel the dry, hot air on my skin, and the curl relaxing from my hair when I fast travel there. I love the night-time desert of the Hissing Waste as well. All I need is a Stillsuit and a Worm to ride.

2. Least Favorite area. The Exalted Planes. The mess, the ramparts with their smell of blood, excrement, burning bodies, decaying flesh, and that sense of useless waste and devastation. I hate going there, and I only do the quests I feel are absolutely necessary there. Can't wait to leave. The sadness, the futility, the sense that no one ever learns from the mistakes of the ancestors. (You'd think the Mire would be the worst, but it isn't sad in the same way the plains are sad.)

I cannot say how much I enjoy visiting the various areas, even those that fill me with unease. I think the artists did a fantastic job of creating ecosystems. Bravo to the artistic team.

Storm coast is my favorite. I could watch those waves for hours. Watch and listen. So wonderful. I'm sure my party wanted to just jump in the water and drown themselves out of boredom for how long my Inq sat by the shore. The only one that comes close to it is Emerald Graves, because that lush green drenched in it's sad history was just...beautiful.

Least favorite...Hinterlands, because....it's a trap. All roads lead back to it and it takes forever to get out of.

I haven't spent much time in some of the areas, but the out of the ones i have:

Favorite: Western Approach. I love the keep in this area and there was a lot of interesting things to explore.

Least: Fallow Mire. Though the different atmosphere was nice, compared to the hinterlands and such, it just seemed like a waste. It was mostly linear, unless you like confronting endless mobs of undead.

That being said, I haven't spent much time in the following yet: Exalted Plains, Emerald Graves and the Hissing Wastes.

Favorite: Exalted planes and Emerald Graves

Least: Hissing Wastes. The area is completely and utterly useless, waste of resources.

Emprise du Lion.

Why, you ask?

Colloseums with Dragons... inside.

I loved Emprise du Lion for the bridge and the battles there, but all that snow....brrrrr.

I just wondered what areas people liked and why. Some areas just make my skin crawl, others give me a good feeling.  I love the desert at night, that's why the Hissing Waste seems lovely to me, and the Western Approach feels free and open. I thought the artists did a fantastic job on the environments.

I like EDL, mostly for Suledin Keep, though I admit, I got lost while taking it. That and

Spoiler
Passed that, I haven't much explored it yet, either.

Loved the Hinterlands, Crestwood, Exalted Plains, Emprise du Lion, and the Emerald Graves. Less keen on Storm Coast and the Fallow Mire, though they had their moments and I enjoyed their atmosphere. Wasn't a fan of the desert locations at all.

I hated anything with large amounts of Mountains. Mainly because the auto-map didn't make it clear what I could or could not walk over.

I love Western Approach and EDL. I like that they're open but have a very efficient ideal path you can go through them in. Finishing it all in one big loop is awesome. Plus a quest to earn the right to fight the dragon. Wish there had been more of that. The EDL dragons were awesome, tho.

The most beautiful and sad area to me is unfortunately also my least favorite. Exalted Plains. I love the area, it's gorgeous, and those structures in the backgroud like that huge wolf on a distant mountain top captured my imagination. Too bad the area is also the most god awful and annoying area to clear. Almost every shard is on some ridiculously high rock or wall you have to figure out how to climb, and running around in circles attempting to navigate those ramparts made me want to break things in frustration.

At first I hated the oasis because it was hard to get all the shards. Then I actually thought about what route I would take before getting the shards and once I got all of them I felt so accomplished. Now I love the oasis. I also like emerald graves. It just feels so natural and peaceful (minus that huge group of giants).

My favorite maps had to be the Emerald Graves and Western Approach for design (and the Hissing Waste because it was one of the few places that I got a lot of party banter)

My least favorite had to be the Exalted Plains, mostly because I didn't finish off the main side quest in the area for a while so I kept dealing with demons and that gets annoying after awhile.

Favorites:  Emerald Graves, Hissing Wastes (only for the tomb quests, thats all that puts that on here), Crestwood

Least Favorites:  Hinterlands (its on everybody's list, dont deny it), Storm Coast (wish they would have had more to do here), Exalted Plains (demons outside of rifts, and having to walk all the way around the battlements is a chore)

Favorite: Crestwood the raining/storm version. I was actually feeling very disappointed when they changed it to sunny post Rift-closing there. I finished all the necessary quests there before changing it. I like it, a change of atmosphere after all the sunny and sunshine of Hinterlands, Emerald Graves, Exalted Plains. etc.

Storm Coast is also nice for its rainy and wavy atmosphere.

Least favorite: Ahhh hmmmmmmmmm..... probably Exalted Plains. A pretty boring place, imo.

Also, any place with the kind of mission like the HALLA ESCORT MISSION can explode and destroy itself, thank you.

I rather like the Emerald Graves and the Arbor Wilds - the former because it's a pleasantly green environment, the latter because it's a bit tropical like home (I live in Hawaii, heh). I also like the tomb raiding in the Hissing Wastes and appreciated the varied desert terrain there as well.

I must agree with this , the sea on the Storm coast is gorgeous....but the rest of the map is painful to navigate . So many hills !!!

favorite:

- Crestwood. I like how the map actually changes according to your mission progression.

(- Oasis. It is challenging to get all the shards. I love to barrier my inquisitor and let her free fall from the cliffs since I cannot find ways to grab the shards other than dropping. lol)

least favorite:

- I used to say fallow mire. It is so dark and spooky and crazy corpses in the water (especially in nightmare). But after my 3rd pt, I would say the hissing waste. It is too big and hollow. It feels unrewarding even when I completed quests.

Favorites: Emprise du Lion and Hissing Wastes.  I love the contrast of the sleepy, snowy mountains with the red lyrium growing all over the place. It feels very doom laden. Also silverite. I like the Hissing Wastes because of the night sky. It feels very atmospheric and strangely peaceful.

Least Favorites: Emerald Graves. Blasted roots everywhere! Exalted Plains. Those dang forts all over the place. I keep getting lost in them. Let me out!

To be honest all the locations are amazing and diverse.

My favourites are Emprise du Lion,Emerald graves,Crestwood,Stormcoast,Hissing wastes,Hinterlands.

Least favourite:I'd say the Fallow Mire but I still like it,perhaps not as much as the others.

I love the Emerald Graves, with its lush foliage and vibrant colours. I get a little lost when I'm wandering, but it's just so beautiful to explore. Plus, sometimes random snatches of music start up, which I like. Hinterlands would be the runner up, because it's similarly pretty, feels more familiar and seems like a place you'd want to live. If there weren't Fade rifts, mages and templars, and all the rest of that business.

Least favourite is probably the Fallow Mire for being grim, rainy, boggy and full of corpses. Plus there's that whole 'plague that killed everyone' thing. Exhalted Plains are the runner up for being so desolate, and having a sad history.

I haven't been to Emprise du Lion yet but thus far my favorite is the Hissing Wastes and least favorite is the Hinterlands.

Death Valley with dwarven ruins= yes

I didn't really dislike the Hinterlands intensely, it has some interesting aspects like the old totems, but it's generally bland and if you let it, it quickly becomes the Bog of Fetch Quests.

I didn't like the red lyrium mines in Emprise du Lion.

The Exalted Plains are too depressing and somewhat difficult to explore.

I like Crestwood for variety and for the quests.

The Emerald Graves are the most beautiful region, IMO.

Favourite: Emerald Graves.

Least favourite: Probably the Hissing Wastes just because it's so big and empty.

Bleh fallow mire. Maybe if the keep at the end could be captured, I'd feel better. As it is Im waiting to over level the area so I can charge through and get it over with.

Love the hissing wastes and the dwarven history there. Atmosphere is lovely too
