Emerald Graves was my favourite by far. Least favourite would be Exalted planes; too rocky, too... morbid.

Special mention to Crestwood for looking eerily like where I grew up, but with drier weather (Is the resemblance to Cressbrook Dale a coincidence or an inspiration?)

I looooove hissing wastes so much that I try to spread out the tomb missions in a way that allows me to go back and forth to the wastes. That way I can go wander the night time desert when I feel like more relaxing gameplay with less aggro.

I really hate going to the Oasis. It's a freaking maze and the area is actually quite small. You just end up spending forever there just trying to hit all your marks. And it's just a more complex western approach with less blight.

Favorites: I find Forbidden Oasis very pretty. Just like Dorian said: "I guess this place has few sights to recommend", I absolutely love the waterfall and the overhead rock bridges. It is also cozy, kinda small place which is a nice change to the enornous areas such as Hinterlands.
I also love Val Royeaux. The colorful buildings, the lovely lightning... I wish there were more quests in there.

Least favorites: Fallow Mire because dark and wet and eugh, Hissing Wastes/Western Approach because too much emptiness.

Well I love the Fallow Mire. It's so moody and sad and creepy.

Favorite is the Hissing Wastes though.

All the levels were great. So much atmosphere, I loved it.

Don't know if anyone's asked this before but here's my answers.

1. Favorite area. I like the wide open spaces of the Western Approach and the Hissing Wastes the best. The desert has its own open beauty with its hidden water holes. Reminds me of Arizona, and Dune. I actually take a deep, satisfying breath when I arrive there. I also like the sense of late Tevinter, early Chantry and ancient dwarves who were Surfacers there. I can almost feel the dry, hot air on my skin, and the curl relaxing from my hair when I fast travel there. I love the night-time desert of the Hissing Waste as well. All I need is a Stillsuit and a Worm to ride.

2. Least Favorite area. The Exalted Planes. The mess, the ramparts with their smell of blood, excrement, burning bodies, decaying flesh, and that sense of useless waste and devastation. I hate going there, and I only do the quests I feel are absolutely necessary there. Can't wait to leave. The sadness, the futility, the sense that no one ever learns from the mistakes of the ancestors. (You'd think the Mire would be the worst, but it isn't sad in the same way the plains are sad.)

I cannot say how much I enjoy visiting the various areas, even those that fill me with unease. I think the artists did a fantastic job of creating ecosystems. Bravo to the artistic team.

^^ pretty this one for me as well

I loved hissing wastes, hated emprise du lion as it was too cluttered. Overall the desert maps where my favourite, wish we had open snow maps like that too.

I agree with people who go for the open deserts. I really love the Western Approach and Hissing Wastes.

I liked the Fallow Mire, I just wish that  it was a bit bigger. This might be cliche, but I was sort of hoping that the castle would have been more than just a ruin, and turned out to be a haunted dungeon crawl. Oh well...

I grew up in a place like the Storm Coast. Never thought a game would manage to nail that beauty of a windy rainy icy cold coastline. It's definitely my favorite.

That said the Emerald Graves was a letdown of generic woodland.

I just wish that the Storm Coast had proper crashing waves.

I loved both the Emerald Graves and the Fallow Mire. The Emerald Graves because it's beautiful, lush and green and jewel bright. The Fallow Mire because it's the opposite, dark and spooky and unsettling.

I hate the Western approach.

I hate the Western approach so much.
