The ai is famously bad but it has nothing to do with what class your inquisitor is. Solas, Varric, and Dorian try to melee dragons and everyone stands in a fire until they die no matter if I'm a mage, rogue or warrior.
I feel sorry for whoever plays melee characters.

Actually it matters because if you are a ranged character the ranged characters will stay close to you but if you are melee they will follow you to their deaths.

My mage and archer inquisitors don't stand in a Dragon's mouth during a fight, that doesn't stop ranged ai from doing so.
