I've heard some say that those wolves will help you fight. It might have to do with the amulet you get when you kill the demon that was binding the wolves or maybe it has to do with Solas. I've only played humans in my PTs and haven't noticed the wolves helping me to fight.

Ok, so I was in the hinterlands fighting a great bear and all of a sudden another 2 appear out of nowhere plus some bandits too. I'm playing on hard so I was really struggling and then I see some wolves approaching and I was like "oh hell no" and I was ready to run the hell away. But then I noticed the wolves started attacking the bears and bandits but not my party. So I thought, ok once the enemies are dead they will start attacking. But nope. They just decided to hang out with us for a bit.SpoilerAnd even helped taking some more bandits out.SpoilerheheheSpoilerAnd now I want animals as companions.lol
Is one of your characters wearing the Token of the Pack Master amulet? If so then that's why the wolves are fighting for you, lol.

Really? Wow, I didn't know that. It makes sense because Cassandra was wearing the amulet! lol I just checked on google and apparently if you have it on, the wolves in the hinterlands won't attack you. Good to know!
(I'm on my second playthrough and it's the first time I wore that amulet so I had no idea haha)

What, that's FUNCTIONAL? I always just ended up junking it because Bleed effect is broken, making it useless (as far as I knew).
Damn, that's awesome.

The amulet will also work in Crestwood. Not sure about other zones.

Huh. I must have gotten a crap version, because wolved continued attacking my first Inquisitor, and eh wore that thing for the rest of the game (I never ran into an amulet that I felt he needed to wear).

Yes, Patrick Weekes said on twitter that you can do this. I was relieved because killing wolves became tedious.
Became tedious? Was killing wolves ever not tedious?

Like another poster, I binned it because of the broken bleed effect.
Now I'm keeping in on one of my companions. I am the Beast Master, hear me roar!
