Since I am quitting this here's my Demon Commander Pro Tip!

At this point when the boss goes for his big melee range uppercut move, you can time this by letting him panic you once so he goes to his ranged attack then as he drops into the floor and you get smoke on your character signaling you to move, all you need to do is take a step forward and turn around you won't get hit, if done right the boss will just be standing there and not attacking nor will he do his panic attack or drop back into his normal attack pattern. As long as none of your party members step in front of him you will be able to attack him until he's dead.
A lot of people have been posting the stealth version but this one anyone can do, also if you can get multiple people behind him it continues to work as long as you don't break the visual line I explained earlier, its really easiest if just one person handles it while the rest take care of adds that can pick you apart. There are pro tips for the other two bosses as well that I haven't seen posted but they are easy enough that I don't think they are needed, best of luck to you all.

I have had nearly complete success using this tactic:
Demon Commander is easily slain by the Legionnaire using only Shield Wall+Payback Strike
Venatori Commander is extremely weak to the Paladin using Spell Purge (upgrading it makes it even worse).
Red Templar Commander is most easily beaten by running around in circles laughing at him for being all angry until he has an aneurysm or a heart attack. He's all like, "those were my men... blah blah blah" then bam! Arrow in the face! And bees! Because, bees!
Yes, the last tactic was devised by Sera, but it's strangely effective...

A well timed Walking Fortress before he emerged can have him stick his butt in your face and ignore everyone else until you move. You can spank him with your weapon if you want, just don't use any abilities.
Venatori commander just requires you to standard attack their face.
using To the Death on the Red Templar Commander results in a hilarious five second kill.

I love To the Death. I used it on my Legionnare and it was awesome. I got great damage out and the guard generation was awesome, I felt damn near immortal despite the enemy dealing more and more damage. Bad side is pugs not knowing what glowing red enemies mean and not knowing how to avoid getting blobbled with AoE's meant for me and dying horribly as result, lololol.

The problem is that he first has to go through all of his animations and i-frames before finally dying.

Unless you are slowed you can just run. If you are slowed then you will need either a barrier, escape skill o damage mitigation skill.
When I'm tanking I ask my friends to focus on the Fear Demons, so no slow.

Wooo .. I solo'd the Demon Commander with my Keeper yesterday.
Hmmm, there's a slight bump in size ...
TBH, now I consider the Red Templar Commander to be the toughest boss in the game. Still not too difficult for many ranged classes though

Yeah, four of those five seconds was just him flailing before dying. ![]()
