Apparently if you make it there on Nightmare, no skills, basic mercenary coat, and only using Inquisition greatsword, you get a hidden romanceable character for male Inquisitors.

you fool you forgot the lvl 100 magikarp.

yeah i betting dropped content.

Yeah I'm starting to get that vibe. Damn shame too, because as I said, it would have been a great setup for a hidden dungeon.

What do you mean exactly? The game has a lot in it as is without any DLC. This is made even weirder by that weird phase through effect that happens when you pass through the wall to get to the entrance. If it was cut, it must of been very last minute.

I only began following this game near the end of August. I was never a huge Dragon Age fan prior to this game. The main reason I got very into it was due to Bioware and EA's decision to create an app that let you make most if not all choices from the previous two games and import that data into this game.  I'm not sure I would have been as excited otherwise.

I'm a huge Mass Effect fan though.

There were giant scorpions? That would have been neat. At this point, they can add that in an expansion at this point.

That's Sandal's hideout.

Seriously though, that's for a DLC.

But... more seriously I'd say that it's just an obviously-incomplete portion of the region that had been planned. At some point the devs went: "Crap, we're out of time, need to do something about that part of the map over there, suggestions?", and one guy from the level design department went: "Hmmm, what about covering up the entrance with some debris and a mountain face?". And so its entrance became "hidden". The level designers then probably went like: "Ok... hopefully no one is going to jump on this rock and think about walking forward that way...". And upon seeing this video the same guy(s) went: "Damn, told you we should have actually blocked that rock! Now they'll keep saying it was removed content for a DLC!".

And that's right, BioWare, that's right. We've discovered your secret. Now just announce the DLC, you have your back against the wall * cue in the dark instrumentation *

Just another place where you can happily do nothing, or maybe collect some random stuff for power.

Did you watch the beginning where there actually was some kind of phase through effect complete with sound effects? All I'm saying is this appears more than a simple glitch or something. This must have been something cut just before going gold.

Currently, there's nothing to do. It's empty.....for now.

Yeah I got that. Never mentioned it was a glitch now did I? :)

It's "missing" content. I don't think that it was "cut" (I.E. 'removed'). It was partially-built by the level designers because they obviously had something in mind for that portion of the region. Then they probably scrapped the idea(s) in question because they realized that they wouldn't have enough time to complete it... in time. So they merely stopped working on whatever that portion had to be completed for. I would guess that at the very least one quest would have lead us there and the "portal" visual effect thingy when going through the rock would probably had been replaced with a magical barrier or something else. But they put some rock there to "cover" a portion of the region that had no purpose anymore. It's... a guess on my part of course I don't have proofs of what I'm stating here. But to me that would make sense.

The big question now would be: do they actually have a plan to continue working on that portion of the region for later content? (yeah that means DLC)

And, the answer to that is only time will tell.

I never implied that you said it was a glitch. I only meant that, the whole thing feels a lot more than someone just glitching beyond the boundaries of the world and finding stuff. It feels like it's a hook for something. At this point, I think many people have had their curiosity peaked.

The only thing that I would say about that situation is that most people already assumed that whenever there was an area mentioned throughout the game, yet said area was inaccessible to you, it meant that it was very likely something being teased for a future expansion, the only question was when.

This, this is just an oddity.

And mystery solved. If you obtain a certain quest, that staircase leads to the chest with the Ardent Blossom. But ONLY if you get the quest. Lovely little egg, there, Bioware.

Pretty sure they just figured out that it's the result of a secret quest as pointed out in the video linked in this thread:

http://forum.bioware...age-discovered/

There's a picture in the thread that looks like that area, and the video talks about the quest and in the comments it says that "the stairs" are by Suledin Keep.

Emprise seems to be incomplete overall when you look at some of the side quests. The letters, Ishmael, the guy at the top of the keep, even the murder confession seemed like there was supposed to be more to it.

Well, the Imshael storyline is a continuation of a subplot from Dragon Age: The Masked Empire, since Ser Michel de Chevin was a main character in that book and some other stuff happens but I couldn't figure out how to make a spoiler section, so I won't write it here, haha.
