Romancing Sera, did I miss something?

So here's how it went down. I think. Got to Skyhold and talk with Sera a few times, got her missions on the War Table map, did her personal quest and let her kill the fellow, talk with her later and do the prank quest/cutscene, used the "I'm interested in you" dialogue, she insinuates she wants me in the bed, invite her up, she's all 'it's a race' and the scene fades out and we're in her room and all there is is an option to kiss her.

So. From bits and pieces I've read, I seemed to have missed (or not gotten to??) a 'cookies on the roof' scene, and the quest that supposedly starts the romance, 'A Woman Who Wants For Nothing' and the scenes that follow. Did I miss something? I know I didnt (apparently) bring Vivienne along for her quest, though not sure on the details for the importance of that. We're in a romance (I can break up with her or kiss her) but wondering why it seems it's different from others' experiences.

The sad part? I screwed up my saves, so I have a save literally immediately after I do her prank quest and initiate the romance, but before that is like 8+ hours behind.. cause I'm a jeenyus like that.

So just wanting some clarity on how her romance goes in a bit of detail.

It progresses as you progress the main story. Do the Halamshiral or Warden missions.

Did she talk about getting you a gift? If so, you should have a quest to get a gift for her, that will require you to run around and talk to all your companions about what to get her.

Think of doing the main stir missions as a threshold for you companions. Everytime you complete a main story mission, new dialogue/cutscenes for your companions will pop up.

I think I'm fairly early in the story anyway so I'm probably getting ahead of myself, however I'd rather not go through the whole thing putting all the hours in and missing out on such that I intend for my character, as I've seen other posts of folks doing just that.

As to the dialogue regarding gifts, no, nothing. Hence the feeling I've missed something.

I do notice the main missions 'threshold' for character interaction. Right now I've just interrupted the Wardens doing some blood sacrifice in the Western Approach and the leader fellow ran off to some fortress. Maybe 20 hours into the game at the moment.

Still wanting a detailed sequence of how this romance goes, and if I'm just in an early stage of it, or in some alternate version of it (I'm a female elf mage).

At some point, I intend to do a replay with a female qunari mage on nightmare (if i can manage to stand the horrendous tactical camera controls and view /sigh/ *disappointed*), and I have a couple of rogue characters I might use. But I still dont want to screw up my first play through that much..

I'm away for the holidays so I won't be playing for a few weeks, so no updates till then in regards to progress (I'll continue through the Wardens questline), but I'd still appreciate any further insights on this topic and if anyone else has gone through the same sequence of scenes (namely the prank quest followed by the very short talk of 'i like you's and the fadeout of racing to the inquisitor's quarters and then - voila - romance initiated, nothing more).

Thank you.

You need to choose the 'is your group still active' conversation line after completing The Verchiel March. Once that's done talk to her a second time and choose 'I'm interested in you'. Then talk to her a third time and that should trigger 'the woman who wants for nothing'. You need high approval obv. I did this after here lies the abyss but I'm not sure if completing that main quest is required or not.

There is a conversation option that does lead to a scene with you 'racing' to your room. There is no actual scene after it just Sera saying she is racing you. You havent missed anything that is normal.

Yes, though getting the conversation is a good sign that things are progressing.

Apparently making an elf is the more boring choice for her. Too 'elfy' haha. Qunari should be fun though.

K.  This is the second time this romance has been bugged on the same toon.

It happens.

I advanced the plot which should have advanced the cut scenes, but it didn't.

The first time I romanced Sera last out of 5 characters.  I got to the sex scene, and immediately after I started to the war room (I know I'm a romantic), and Josie's cut scene played as though we were in a romance.  She's breaking off a romance we don't have because she's engaged.

I played through.  No romance credit at the end.

I really like this particular Inquisitor so I cheated the evil play through and started it right before Haven is destroyed.  I romanced only Sera.  Never even got to the roof cut scene this time.  We went to bed when we started the romance.  Got a couple of the "how are we doing" dialogues, but I just played through to the dragon scene (if you drank from the well)...and it just never advanced.

No idea why.

Just sucks.  I did open up a great deal of stuff; however, it's annoying that my main character will end this game single...again...and get the...I wish we had had more time speech.

Stupid bug.

I even went back and replayed the Mythal sequence to kill everything and got most approval you can get from her on everything, also playing into her dialogue when we returned to Skyhold and she threatens to kill you with an arrow.  No more cut scene:/  Grrrrr.

You have to choose all dialog options except telling her she doesn't fit the Inquisition.

In addition to approval you must exhaust all dialog options with Sera except telling her she doesn't fit the Inquisition. I did it before Mythal and got the gift quest. Then you have to ask all other companions including Blackwall what to get her. Go with Vivienne's suggestion.

Lol. Is it weird that I did just that?

My Male Trevelyan Inquisitor became unlikely friends with Sera in my first playthrough. After hearing her quizzing Iron Bull about Qunari women whilst out about I created a female Qunari warrior as my second character.

I decided my lady elf mage was lesbian, and I tried romancing several of the women in the game.  Sera was most problematic.  I thought I was getting somewhere after much pretending that I liked her silly pranks and chaotic thinking, but then after some late-game events, she turned downright hostile.  Sorry, I had to drink from that well.  Morrigan drank from it the last time.

As others have said remember that companion questing/scenes open as the story progresses. So if you're at a wall and there are story missions waiting, do one. :-) If things still don't change it could be something going on with the programming, like a plot flag not firing or something. Dunno.

Also my first run thru was on Nightmare with a mage. The only time I used tactical cam was to make companions target specific legs of dragons. Otherwise I found everthing I needed to do to control the battle could be done live or with the quick menu pop-up. This is not to say, haha people are dumb if they can't. Not at all. Just providing the knowledge you can do it.

Things that helped were making sure the squad was selected to suit my purpose, building the powersets to compliment each other. I basically just stuck with as much base class building as possible, only dipping into specializations for a certain power or passive. Fade-Touched Obsidian (plus guard on hit) is also a useful crafting material for all classes. It does not stack with itself however, so don't waste it in armor and a weapon.
