Study your history and do away with the insults. This was common in pirate and mercenary groups (also defined as private armies) and also common in more tribal societies.

Before you accuse someone of "not thinking," you should make sure you actually know what you're talking about. I don't post unless I have my facts straight. You should do the same.

None of them are standing armies.

Pirates? Are you for real.

What's next Maori warriors? Shirtless, sure, because they fought with STONE and Swords with shark teeth because they couldn't even make metal weapons and armor.

There are NO armies running around shirtless in battle.

Several of the Celtic and Germanic tribes who fought the Romans armored only in cloth, bare-chested or just plain naked. The richer fighters could afford mail, the rest were out of luck. They still kicked the Roman's balls several times. There's your example.

Besides, if Iron Bull's pillowing man-bosoms offend you so much, you can encase him in heavy plate, and you can also hide Varric's chest hair.

You both seem to miss the point completely.

The argument used against skimpy bikini armor is that it offers no protection and hence is illogical. That argument becomes hypocrisy when you see Iron Bull and Varric.

Stop trying to include something that is beside the point.

How the hell can that be misogyny. Some women might LOVE the male love interests, it would be subjective.

Some people need to learn how to argue and understand the difference of words and said arguments.

The topic was created to discuss the lack of cleavage, not armor. And the reason the armor is not skimpy, is because Bioware didn't design it for sex appeal. So it isn't beside the point, it's the entire point. They designed armor they thought would look good, and would fit the character. Which leads the characters like Morrigan, Vivienne, Varic and Iron Bull who DO show cleavage if it suits them.

My point about misogyny was sarcasm referring to your last point about the women being "ugly" to "spite you". Which is completely subjective, and the idea that Bioware is out to get you because the women do not meet whatever beauty standard you have is ridiculous.

Your point was that there's HYPOCRISY because it's identical situations. The counter-point was thus that no, these aren't identical situations, because of factors which you now try to exclude.

I, frankly, have not noticed the lack of cleavage in this game.  Perhaps that's because I was...err...too busy noticing just how pleasant my female inquisitor looks without clothes on.

This is the new gaming world post Anita Sarkeesian.

Male hetero sex is out of fashion, that just leads to rape and misogyny.

Meh, what do I know I am white and male the worst combo to have today, I am inherently evil.

I am not talking about skimpy armor if anyone wonders, that I have always thought was silly and illogical.

I think she made some excellent points. It's quite obvious you, like many many others did not read a word of what she wrote. You took it to the extreme.

Let me put it this way: you have Cassandra and Josephine. Both of whom are attractive women. Cassandra might not fit your model as the vulnerable female, but Josephine seems to be more that way. You may not like Cassandra's hair, but it's short for a reason. It's easy to care for and nothing is more feminine than long, stringy, dirty, sweaty hair after a hard day swinging a sword - take a bath? up there you'll catch your death of cold.

As a straight female, when I played Mass Effect 3 I had a choice of... are you ready? Liara and Samantha. Why? Because I hadn't romanced Garrus in ME2, and Bioware decided that Jacob was going to cheat, and that Thane was going to die. The straight males had: Ashley, Miranda, Liara, Jack, and Kelly. Cry me a river.

So go ahead and feel like a second class citizen. All we're asking for is equality. We don't hate men.

I love the way Bioware designed this game. I even plan to play a male protagonist for the first time voluntarily. Why? Cassandra. I want to see that story line.

Of course it is a hypocrisy. IF the ARGUMENT among Bioware and people are that it is illogical to have skimpy armor because it offers no protection and it only used as sex appeal. IT IS  clearly a hypocrisy to not treat the male version the same. They are 100% identical when it comes to the argument that they don't offer protection. Don't try and create a straw man that "some armies had men in shirts or shirtless". It's a fallacy. You are NOT attacking the argument presented.

Don't even try to deny it, because it would only make you look like a fool.

My point is say that you don't want skimpy armor because it is just about 'sex', don't try and be a hypocrite and say it is bad because it offers no protection and then do the SAME thing with Varric and especially Iron Bull.

If you can't see that extremely blatant hypocrisy, that is just sad. It's tantamount to a child with fingers in their ears going la la la la.

I personally couldn't care less about any skimpy armor on any man or woman. I just get pissed off when there is this holier than thou BS attitude and arguments but apparently it only applies to ONE part of the discussion.

It's even worse irony about Iron Bull talking about impractical boob armor and how poor the protection is and he is standing around in pants and no armor at all, basically.

Sounds to me YOU are crying a massive river.

I can't say anything because I am clearly a privileged white man, what was I thinking.

I don't like how they presented the women.

Either you get a manly looking woman with a jawline that would make men feel dainty (what was the purpose of that?), she looked normal in DA2. I also have no problem with short hair, where do you come up with these 'arguments'. There are plenty of really fine women with short hair. Have you seen the voice actor for Cassandra, a gorgeous woman. Why not model Cassandra after a normal looking woman. Why the acute angular face with a constant frown.

I thought romances was suppose to entice a person to become interested. To have some beauty and YES I would expect the same for female and gay romances.

Bioware has had really good looking love interests for male in all other games. This is why it is jarring, it's like it's some kind of message.

Josephine almost prudish virginesque. Where is the normal woman? She is also hardly attractive either. Especially when you see Leliana and how she looks a lot better than both.

It's such a huge contrast with nothing normal in the middle, an extreme tom-boy religious person or a prudish virgin with the purposeful warts and all.

I also never said I have a problem with women and gay people having equal choice. So don't even try to play that card.

Is it impossible to read or view her arguments and then disagree with them?

Weird... I thought Cassandra had a very feminine look in her own way. It's not the "traditional" dainty female look, but I don't see how anyone could possibly mistake her for a man.

For your convenience, I bolded the part of the argument where they are "0% identical". Having part of the argument identical and part not identical renders the argument overall not identical. Hence, no hypocrisy.

I really can't put it any simpler. You should realize you're wrong the moment you had to ignore part of your own statement to demonstrate how these situations are 'identical'.

(It is dishonest to present this argument as if the "lack of protection" was the entirety of it, because as you now acknowledge yourself, it is not. That's the entire goal of my first reply, to point out the argument about skimpy armours was broader than how you were portraying it)

You're cherry picking and creating a straw man argument. There is nothing else to it.

Get back to me when you actually address what was said.
