They're also frequently featured in Everquest which used to be the MMO before WoW happened (and WoW has its own share of these designs). For more recent examples, Divinity: Original Sin experienced strong backlash when it tried to go that route.

 

To be fair, that character is a sea elf/sea nymph. There probably aren't many blacksmiths at 40 fathoms. (And yes it's still cheesecake.)

Though, I wouldn't mind some cool dalish armor that had a little cleavage, not overdone and not underdone, just right for it to be something you could think "Yeah, okay, I could see that work in battle".
