It feels really pointless to have all these exotic materials saved up if the best weapons in the game don't even let you use them.

 

Think I'll just start using my better materials now because I have a feeling soon I won't need them.

Actually, some uniques allow crafting.

I just got a unique staff that has two slots open, was able to add a rune but not the others--kept getting a "Item modification was not successful" message.  Blew my good mats to upgrade it, too.

Yeah hate how you can upgrade certain weapons not just uniques

there are several unique bows/staves/daggers/1h weapons that allow you to upgrade them.....ive yet to see a unique 2h with upgrade slots besides runes tho.

Almost every unique bow allows for upgrades. I wish the same could be said for daggers.

I've got two unique 2Hs with three slots (counting rune).  Never tried to upgrade them though, so I don't know if they'll give that error, as they're only level 11 and 10.

depends on what you see as better, matter of taste

I would rather use the void staff than then veil staff, 36 + magic is nice

There's nothing like flying into the middle of a group with arcane warrior only to have them completely ignore you as you slaughter them. You can't have slaughter without laughter
