The lack of proper build up and more insight into Corypheus himself is what make him a not so good Villain IMO not the difficulty of the last encounter which is irrelevant, most people play DA for the lore not challenging combat , play dark souls if thats what you are looking for , he should have had more screen time that would have made him at least interesting.
I cannot take Corypheus seriously

Yeah.. the way they portrayed him could've been better. He always looked amateurish compared to the Inquistion. Noramlly the Inquisition wouln't have any reason to fear him at all because even though he has all the power in the world, he is a very bad organizer. It's like you have the best players in your football team, but your tactics suck and end up being beaten all the time.
I laughed so hard when he blew himself up... ![]()

I had no trouble taking him seriously, you just have to actually put yourself in the role... the writing and cinematics and lore makes him terrifying enough.
Anybody can throw suspension of disbelief away and just pick apart any character in ANYTHING. Heck, that's the very reason for TV Tropes' existence. That doesn't mean the character is poorly written. You can give Hannibal Lecter the same treatment, but you'll be the one ruining your experience.
So, no, no trouble here, and it makes the story that much more enjoyable.
Maybe it's just me but the way the King of Shadows was portrayed in NWN2 was really ground braking... You see the guy only once at the final battle, but the way he was portrayed throughout the game, the stories of him and his fallen empire made a huge difference on how I felt about the character itself. Cory has a great the start in Haven, but he goes downhill after the battle with the avalanche.

I think Cory was a decent villain but not in the role he was given in this game. In Legacy, he was great, but I had a hard time buying that anyone would actually follow him in Inquistion. I feel like they would've been better off with an Anti-Christ type character. Someone good looking, charismatic, and intelligent, so when someone like Florianne, who isn't stupid, says that they're following him, I don't go, "Really? That guy? The guy who actually uses the words 'demon army?'" His voice acting was really good, though. And I agree with those above who said he seems less like a threat when you beat him at ever turn. Maybe if Orlais had fallen, I'd be more impressed by his villainy.
Honestly, if the OGB wasn't optional (and removed as a factor in this game), I think he could've been a great Anti-Christ type villain years down the road. But that's just me.

So... this Corypheus is supposed to be the villain in this game right ? Anyone else think that he really does poorly as a villain ? He should take some lessons from Darth Malak because he was one of the best written evil guys in gaming history imho.
I just finished the temple of Mythal and Corypheus just blowed himself up in front of me before I entered the temple. I mean come on.. what was that supposed to be ?
Ok, he's immortal, but he could've shown off how immortal he is in a more villainy way. He makes me think that he is some kind of an amateur villain wannabe.
I remember in KOTOR when I first saw Malak on some posters, I already knew that he is going to be a great character, but not this Corypheus. At least so far. Maybe I'll change my opinion after I finish the story.
Just in case no one's linked it to you, but this is why (spoilers abound, so once you've finished the story ofc):

Whoa now! Since when has Malak been an interesting character? This is new information.
Malak is basically Darth Vader Knock-Off 67# along with Lord Soth, Death's Hand, and God knows how many others.
HOWEVER, you understood:
1. He was a capable military commander.
2. He was kicking the Republic's ass.
3. He blew up Tarsis.
4. He blew up Carth's homeworld.
5. He was smart enough to know you were a threat to him.
And the big finale had a wonderful soliloquy from him as he dies. You understand he was a man who was seduced by ambition and greed but who was once a hero. Worse, you were the one who led him down this path of temptation.

Hmm I felt no fear from the Fifth Blight personally. What we where seeing and what was told in lore about the old blights was just not the same, add to the fact that the Archdemon is killed by three wardens(two who are still recruits) before it even truly begins and the fear of Blights just shattered for me.
3 Wardens and nine or so of the greatest heroes in the world.

As for Corypheus, he actually does an incredible job of smashing all of the great powers of the world.
It's just we never really get a sense of how TERRIFYING this must be to the world.
Also, the Breach is a major **** up on his part.
I was thinking, going into the game, the Breach was part of his endgame.

Corypheus is just Skeletor.
Don't think too much of him.

Do you have anything at all negative or constructive to say about DA:I? I've been lurking the BSN since completing Inquisition a few days ago, and you seem to pop up in just about every other thread to defend DAI while simultaneously putting down DAO and DA2. ![]()

Malak was lame wich make Cornyphius good looking in comparison .

Dorian: Like a giant darkspawn hamster with aspirations of godhood. 'Dorian, why can't you look after your little friends? Corypheus peed on the carpet again!' In this analogy, the carpet is Haven.
After a line like that... Damn you Dorian I need to be able to atleast look at the guy trying to murder us all without laughing my ass off!

And he gets humiliated again in the final cutscene of the final battle... when you destroy his orb and send him to the fade.
I was surprised that they did not make him beg on his knees to your inquistior. I swear that the worst part of this game was the final battle.
Most of our companions are well written but poor little Cory got left in the dark a bit.

Actually, I didn't have much of a problem with the final battle except for the fact there wasn't ENOUGH opportunities for smacktalk.
The closest came when my Andrastrian Herald said he was the Chosen of the Maker.
And Corypheus looked...genuinely freaked the **** out.
Either thinking he was insane or wondering if he might actually be.
I wanted a chance to go full Spiderman on Corypheus during the Final Battle, telling him in lengthy terms what a pathetic little weasal he was.
THEN kill him.

Corypheus came across as a B-grade villian with rather tired dialogue. I can understand the appeal to bring him back considering what he represents...but it all came across rather ...cartoonish (his lines, being foiled at every point after his initial Haven appearance).
