The only way I've found is to not do the War Table missions.
A poor solution, but they all seem to die when I actively take an interest.
Apathy in times of crisis is a good thing. You heard it hear first.

You should sig that! Quote it, though, to make it sound all profound and such. Like...

Yeah, they'll probably be fine if you just don't do the wartable mission. Is that not a valid option?

I hope not. The warden's time is over. Share the joining method with those in power and step aside! Damn demon-summoning, magister-allying, blood-magicking hippies.

Not sure, but I did the Wartable-Missions and there was nothing mentioned about them being wiped out in the end. heavy losses, sure, but nothing like "Non survived, they're done", just praise how bravely they fought and all...

First time I did it most of the wardens survived but on my second playthough they were wiped out.

I thought there was a proper order that would save them. Use Cullen to have them smash the Darkspawn, Leliana to scout them out, then Leliana to find a path through the mountains, then Josephine's siege engines.

My war table choices never ended in their demise. There would be a few losses at some points, but they were in the epilogue so not entirely down and out.

They're alive and well in my playthroughs.
I wonder if them getting wiped out is tied to who gets left behind in the Fade? I always save the Warden, and they never have any issues at the War Table. Also, when playing Adamant, you have the choice to save Wardens or let them die at various points - that might also affect the final outcome.

I doubt it is Bioware's intent to have the Grey Wardens get completely wiped out. What happens in 'The Last Flight' would seem to indicate otherwise.

I didn't get my Grey Wardens wiped out. You have to pick specific advisers and do things just right. In the end, my Grey Wardens came away with very light losses and the person in charge was happy. I did go back and pick a different adviser when I had a bad outcome because I wanted the best outcome for the wardens.

Can you or anyone in this chat give us the "ideal" choices that will prevent the demise, or heavy losses of Grey Wardens.

I don't remember my choices...I'm on my second PT now and haven't gotten to that part again, yet. If I remember, a mistake I made and redid, was picking Lelianna for one of the missions and there was a cave-in that wiped most of the GWs out. Also, pay attention to what the end of each mission report says after the mission is done. You know you've done good, if the person reporting back says things went well and that she is happy.
I'll probably look this up before I attempt it again. I dislike killing people I didn't mean to kill. ![]()

Hey, if that spoiler is true...and we are going north ... and we hopefully haveTevinter AND Anderfels ... geez...I want to ride one of those into battle against Darkspawn-Hordes! That could make for some epic final ... if Bioware doesn't back down once more on being epic!

Ally with the Wardens at Adamant.
During War Table missions:
1. Choose Cullen to protect the town being besieged by darkspawn.
2. Use Leliana to investigate the Marquise (uncertain if this is the best choice)
3. Use Leliana to get the Wardens through the mountains.
4. Use Josephine or Leliana to besiege the fortress.
5. Use Cullen to wipe out the darkspawn.
You'll know if a choice is optimal because the War Table report will say the Wardens took few/light losses. The reports also mention what the overall strength of the Wardens is based on past decisions (they've taken few losses, they've taken losses but are still motivated, etc)
During the 3nd War Table mission the Wardens have to get through demon infested mountains. Using Leliana gets you through without engaging them; in mission 4 you have to fend off demons while besieging a castle. It's possible that choosing to attack the demons in mission 3 (the Cullen option) may save you casualties in mission 4, but that's just my speulation.
Here's the exploit for War Table missions; they run off the system clock. So, choose an option, exit the game, advance the clock on your computer or console by however much time is appropriate, load the game and see if the outcome was good. If you don't like it, load an earlier save.

When they talk about the Wardens being wiped out, they specifically mean the Wardens in Orlais, the Wardens in the rest of Thedas are doing just fine, sitting around playing rounds of strip Wicked Grace, waiting for the next Blight to occur.
The Grey Wardens really should make some form of elite task force to wipe out the resting old gods or whatever to prevent future blights. Avernus could be Dragon Ages Equivalent of Q from James Bond.

I don't remember the order I took, but at the end of their missions they lived on.

Or just start the mission last thing before you go to sleep and check it the next morning.

I actually thought the whole "woops all the wardens died" thing was really odd just because the epilogue slide did not reflect this at all. At least, not for me--is there an epilogue slide in which they're all dead? Because my supposedly-completely-wiped-out warden order happily went on to rebuild and cut ties with Weisshaupt. It felt like a retcon. Which is odd, because both things happen in the same game.
