After finally finishing my first playthrough I feel it's time to throw this question out there.
Who were your favourite companions in each game of the series? And also, who were your least favourite?

I feel the party members in Inquisition are just very uninteresting so building a relationship with them isn't very compelling, I pretty much disliked most of them, haha.

 

DA: Origins

Most liked

Leliana - Clearly my romance interest for my Warden, she was so endearing and her backstory with Marjolaine was great.

Morrigan - Such an intriguing character and I loved her cutting remarks towards Alistair, I felt very betrayed by her in the dlc, haha!

Ogren - Best Dwarf yet, always drunk and his camp dialogues made me laugh a lot.

Shale - She reminded me of that human hating droid from KOTOR, lol

 

Least liked

Alistair - Such a drip, always whining and never shut up about his lineage, ugh..... bored just thinking of him.

Zevran - Just wasn't interesting enough, and then he tried to kill me?! Pfft!

 

DA2:

Most Liked

Isabella - Sharp tongued pirate rogue? check! love interest, check!

Merril - She's just funny and Welsh.

 

Least Liked

ANDERS - I wasn't keen on him before, but after he destroyed the chantry, he cemented a hatred for mages within me, haha.

Fenris - Wasn't sure on my first Hawke but my second one connected with him too well.

 

DA:Inquisition:

Most liked

Blackwall - He seems interesting, even though he vanished right before the final battle. Plus he's a bad ass warden.

Vivienne - I just like that they FINALLY had a mage who supports the circle.

 

Least liked

Varric - He just has no place in this game really. I talked to him enough in DA2, his story is done imo, go away.

Cole - incoherrent talks of things, random, no real explanation, demon?, spirit?, a lack of answers.

Sera - I thought she would've been likeable, I almost ejected her from the inquisition she was so annoying, like a spoiled teenager.

Solas - So incredibly boring. I've played all the previous content, I KNOW about Elven history (loved the reveal at the end though!!)

Cullen - Boring, "templars blah blah lyrium blah blah blah..." Just a 2D character.

 

 

Really, Leliana and Morrigan should've had more story to them and it would've been amazing to have them in your party again!

DA:2 Companions were kind of cartoony. Varric I loved, the rest were ok, no hate except for Merril, who is, in fact, a moron.

I myself had had quite an opposite reaction to Inquisition companions.I loved all of them.

 

That said I rarely dislike Bioware companions.

If you take the opposite of what you just wrote, you'd have my list--except Shale and Isabela. You can't not love them!

As a side note, did you do any personal quests? In particular it seems like Blackwall's might have interested you a great deal and changed what you wrote a bit. you were supposed to go look for him!

DAO: Liked Morrigan, Wynne and Shale. Hated Oghren.

DA2: I like Anders as a character because of how much I hated him as a person. Characters are supposed to evoke emotions, and Anders certainly did that... I also like Varric.

DAI: Love Solas and Dorian. Hate Sera, Vivienne and Blackwall.

Hands down my favorite companion from origins was Shale and even if he was only your companion in the dwarf noble prologue Gorim. From Awakening I liked Anders which is ironic since I hated him in orgins. In DA2 my favorate companions where Varric and Aviline. IN DAI my favorite companions are Solas, Cassandra and Varric, they play off each other so well in banter and even gang up on each other at times.

Dislike (I'm mostly indifferent to the DA:I cast, but there are a few I hate/dislike)

- Vivienne, a power-hungry snake

- Dorian, although I don't hate him as much as I did initially, I still don't like his constant joking

- Cole, I like his comments and insight but he's a pain in the butt to keep alive in melee

Sigrun, she's intelligent and knows the real life.

Ogrhen, he was better in Origins. Just less funny and pragmatic.

Solas, at the begining I really loved listen to his stories. Even if I was a human. Then he becames a really really good friend, and at the end... WAOUH!

Sera, she looks like my best IRL friend ! She's smart and doesn't wait ppl to tell her what is good or not !

Vivienne, she acts as if she was intelligent, but she's not. She's a totally fool who thinks that every mages wants to fu** an old noble to get out the Circle. And please, wait the next Blight, we'll talk about the grey wardens again....

Iron Bull, not funny and wait, he's a qunari for real ?

Blackwall, I think even Stroud was more interesting than this guy....

Dragon age: Origins - Most liked Loghain, (Hes a badass ****** general, or was)            Most hated - Alistair for being an idiot. 

 

Dragon age 2 - Most liked Sebastian "Maker NOOOOOOO".         Most hated - Fenris, far too emo for my liking.

 

Dragon age Inquisition - Most liked Loghain (He counts he was with me for like a whole half an hour). Most hated Leliana, I like her ideals but I just don't like her. Otherwise all of inquisitions party members are extremely hard to not like.

Origins: It's been a long time since I played it, but I remember really liking Oghren and Zevran, but finding Alistair irritating as hell. 

 

Never played the second game, so let's skip straight to the present.

 

Favourite: Changes all the time, which is a good sign. Today? Probably Cassandra.

 

Worst: Vivienne. I appreciate the fact she is in the game, for balance, but dislike her intensely regardless.

The only way to my heart is broken game mechanics.

 

Favorite DA:O companion- Wynne: It was impossible to die with all the healing spam.

 

Favorite DA:II companion- Merril: Sure spirit healer was even more broken here then it was in origins, but wounds of the past exploit is more fun.

 

Favorite DA:I companion- Sera: Flask of Fire exploit. 

 

In all seriousness I liked all of the companions throughout the entire series, expect Isabella, I hate pirates. Although now that I think about it I wasn't a fan of Fenris, and Anders irked me, and Morrigan was too dumb to realize you get the best loot by being the good guy.

I honestly can't pick favourites, I love all of them. Except Sebastian. He can die in a chemical fire being mauled to death by rabid blight wolves being ridden by Jar Jar Binks.

All-time favorites: Morrigan and, newly, Solas. All the Origins companions I have a soft spot for, however, they are the originals, after all, and I don't believe there was a single companion whom I disliked. Dorian and DA2 Varric I adore as well, along with the rest of the DA2 cast. It usually takes a few playthroughs for me to warm up to new companions, so I am reserving judgement for how the DAI companions compare. 

 

Least favorite: Sebastian and Blackwall. Well, I don't actually dislike them, really. They just don't really evoke any emotion from me. I believe Vivienne is the first companion that my protagonist has not gotten along with at all (excluding the DA2 rivalry system, where you were still mostly friends) but I still value her character.

Blackwall vanished right before the final battle and I had no options to go search for him, maybe it bugged out as after reading up it seems that was the start of his personal quest, the one I was most looking forward to, haha.

Also, the fact that Merrill is such a moron is what makes her so great, fits her Welsh accent as most the Welsh girls I've met in real life are quite comical by nature too.

DAO: alistair, leliana (best friends), morrigan (she called me her sister ), sten, shale (asunder made me absolutely love her), oghren, wynne....ok, basically everyone except dog

DAA: anders, nathaniel, oghren.  i'm fairly neutral with sigrun and justice.  hated velanna.

DA2: everyone except sebastian.  he's ok sometimes, but i think overall, he's just not too bright and i just don't find him anywhere near as endearing as the others.

DAI: dorian, solas, varric and cole.  cassandra, iron bull and blackwall are growing on me. 

 

i don't dislike vivienne, i just haven't had her in my party a lot since my trevelyan always had his lovable dorian around and my mage lavellan had solas and thus didn't need a third mage in the party.  STILL trying to like sera.

Same here I have been thinking and loved them all in some way or another. Except Anders when he started plotting. I loved Justice and Anders in awakenings but them both mixed was bad. Very bad. Thanks game.

Anders is my most and least liked companion.  I loved him in DA:A, hated him in DA:2.

After thinking about it, I realized that the companions I like the most tend to be either mysterious in some way, or the somewhat understated ones that other people think are boring.
