Should every Dragon Age title feature a new protagonist for that matter?

In Dragon Age Origins and in Dragon Age 2 I felt like the story of the warden and

Hawke's story respectively have been told, however I don't feel the same way for the

Inquisitor. How do you feel about that?

Was defeating Corypheus the sole purpose of the Inquisition?

Can there be not many more things for the Inquisition to do?

While I do expect some DLCs I think it could be nice if we had Dragon Age games with

the same protagonist for two games for example.

What do you think about that?

Finish inquisitor in substantial dlc, then move on to new part of world and story. I loved all the mythology and chantry stuff, but for the love of the Maker dont make the next protag the mouth-piece of a god/whatever Andraste is. Explore new ideas and issues.

Honestly I wouldn't mind the idea of playing the inquisitor for thee rest of the dragon age series like a sort of Shepard type character, i'd also like the idea of being someone under the command of the inquisitor. The reason of this view being that I don't like the idea of the inquisitor and the inquisition being enemies of future player characters, as I could see this as being high likely, especially if the inquisitor drunk from a certain corrupted beverage.

Yes. Let's keep things as self-contained as possible.

New location (Anderfels/Tevinter)

New Villain (Of COURSE! One with more screentime and charisma, but still EVIL to hate him ... and no Loghain-p'ussy!)

New Hero (Joins the wardens, sees them wiped out at the beginning red wedding style, then flees ..oh, sounds a bit like Origins, but I don't care...^^)

All new! Mass Effect never again!

I don't really mind, in principle.  Though the Inquisitor is rather awkwardly powerful for a lot of RPG plots

I trust Bioware, as far as this goes. I'm not crazy about any game that does "to be continued" in nickel-and-dime DLC, but I guess that's the state of the industry right now. I don't mind full-fledged expansions, though.

I think that having a new protagonist every time gives the writers and artists more creative freedom.

Inquisition felt more like just the beginning of a story, and I would much rather play the Inquisitor again, rather than a new protagonist. However, Bioware has stated on multiple occasions that each game will star a new protagonist, alas.

In such case, the most we can hope for is a full-fledged expansion, which I would truly love to see.

Would love to keep playing as my Inquisitor. It really doesn't feel like her story is over, unlike with the Warden and Hawke. I'm really hoping Bioware changes their minds about the new protagonist for every game thing...

On one hand, I'd like to continue romances and see the companions again, on the other hand I don't want the inquisitor to limit the locations we can go see in the DA universe.

DA is a game where the events take place in any corner of the world.
Playing with the same protagonist every time something happens feels a bit of a stretch, I mean, there is a limit of how much you can travel to be at that place, at that exact moment.
Having different PoVs not only avoids this issue, but it also makes the saga feel bigger, by seeing a lot of new characters and locations on every entry. A good example of this is A Song of Ice and Fire.

I also feel like not only does my Inquisitor have story left to tell, but that the Inquisition as a whole does, too. It would be very interesting to play as the Inquisitor and shape the post-Corypheus future of the Inquisition.

There's a lot of story potential in taking the Inquisition north and having the Inquisitor deal with the fallout of their previous decisions.

That being said, they'd need some way to believably 'reset' your character to level 1, and make allowances (like in Awakening) for people who are picking up the game who haven't played Inquisition.

Then again, it might be fun to start at level 1 as a low-ranking agent, being sent north on behalf of the Inquisition, and play as that character. You'd get a prologue like in Origins, but your options would be limited depending on your choices in Inquisition - can't be a Templar agent if the Inquisitor sided with the mages, etc.

The Quizzy and the whole Quisition is way too powerful to be used in the next game, as far as I am concerned.

This whole planning, wartable, politic-stuff...I want a new hero, going back on the streets, getting this feeling of "alone against the world and odds" ... we were leaders now, let's get back to the roots of fantasy with cliche-coming-of-age-from-rags-to-riches-peasant-becomes-hero-stuff!

Or just have the Quizzy die, lose all her powers and join the Tevinter-Venatori? Oh, wait, been there already ... then let her lose her memory? that always works! Good old RPG-Amnesia, we keep the old, and still can start anew! Genius! :wizard:

They could pull a Mass Effect and double the level cap, then let you transport the last over.

I wouldn't mind a new protagonist as long as they complete this story. It seems clear that dlc regarding the Inquistors past would be ideal, people are missing that connection. The whole Flemeth, Morrigan, Dread Wolf, Mythal etc is an absolute priority.

Because answers. Need answers.

Nah, this is just the beginning of the Inquisition. There's so much more they can do post-Corpyheus, especially with their power and influence, it would be easy to have them travel to Tevinter to, for example, aid Goat-Thrower, the Qunari, find the Venatori, etc.

The Dragon Age series has never been about following a single protagonist for multiple games. They have always stated that they wanted to tell the story of Thedas instead.

So yes, I definitely think the next game should have a new protagonist.

How about the possibility of being a new character who joins the inquisition and is sent to lead the Tevinter cell. In this case you'd have to operate secretly unlike in Inquisition.

That way you get the best of both worlds, continue the story of the Inquisition without worrying about the super powered inquisitor

I want a new protagonist for each game. The series is the story of Thedas, not any one character. I don't want the Inquisitor becoming the DA equivalent of Shepherd, because I don't think there needs to be one.

The next game looks like it will probably be heading north, so a new character seems like a good idea.

Playing as the Inquisitor again sure as hell beats the " o **** he disappeared never to be found again " nonsense that we've been getting from previous protagonists, So yes let us pick up where we left off.

That's not a bad idea so we will still have a new hero but maintain connection with DA:I.

Yes, I would prefer to start over as a new protagonist in the next game.

The inquisitor doesn't have to disappear. They can stay in skyhold, dealing with inquisition problems. We can be off handling something else.
