This is why I'd like to see the game take place in Northern Thedas closer to Tevinter and Seheron. Possibly surrounding the war between them two.

Heh I didn't mean that every single Dragon Age game should have one and the same protagonist.

I just meant that not every DA game has to have a new protagonist.

Take Mass Effect for example. It features the same protagonist for three games but now it will break with this

tradition and Mass Effect 4 will feature a new protagonist (as far as I know).

Why can't it be the other way around with Dragon Age? Could Dragon Age not break its tradition of having always

a new protagonist and feature 2 games with the same one?

I'm not asking for all Dragon Age games to have the same protagonist. I'm just wondering if

two games from the DA games could feature the same protagonist for example.

DA4 should have a new protagonist. It offers much more freedom for new locations and plot developments.

However, the Inquisitor's story does seem like it's only just beginning. I think it'll need a number of substantial DLCs before I feel the scope of the Inquisition is done justice to.

While I'm not sure that DA4 should receive a new protagonist, I do believe that the Inquisitor's story has only just started. Either we need a few DLCs and a very large expansion to finish the story or a whole new game. Either way, I suspect the Inquisition will be moving north.

It might also be that the franchise name might change at the end of the Inquisitor's story.

I prefer the inquisitor. What's the point of getting attached to a character just to keep dropping them in the new game.

Because the alternative is easier to provide perspective on the world and taking the franchise new places. See franchises like say.. Silent Hill, where it consistently shifts to a new protagonist but it's always tied together by the premise of the town 'Silent Hill'. Each protagonist, however, offers a new story and psyche to explore as one traverse through the familiar and new parts of the town. This works for a lot of games and I'd argue it does so for Dragon Age as well. There's no overarching plot to tell here unlike say Mass Effect.

The game's been out for a month, and we don't even have a clue about what DLC is planned. How about we wait until they finish this game before we start worrying about "this game didn't feel finished"?

Yes. The inquisitor as a character was boring as hell.

I'd rather have a new protagonist who operates on a much smaller scale than the Inquisitor. They'd still have an impact on Thedas, but they wouldn't be commanding armies or anything.

well i would prefer a knew protagonist( a leader that is allied with the inqustion maybe ). i can see the Inquisition spreading north into like Nevarra, antiva, and the anderfels. there were other fade rifts throughout thedas were the Inquisition didn't have a presence. i don't think anyone has figured out how to close them ( maybe someone in tevinter? ). i don't see the Inquisition having an overt presence in tevinter because the black divine could see the Inquisition as another arm of the orlesian chantry.

If we go to Tevinter, it'd be so much better to have the option of playing an Altus, a Soporatus or a slave. Or maybe even an actual Qunari from Seheron...

Why not? I'd much rather have a different character. Playing the same one in a series that already gives me different ones each time would be boring.

Wherever it is set (and I think they'll go to a new land, maybe Tevinter and Antiva), I think the hero will be Orlesian for the following reason.

DA:O was set in Ferelden

DA2 was set in the Free Marches, and the hero, Hawke, was Ferelden

DA:I was set in Orlais (mostly), and the hero, the Inquisitor, was from the Free Marches (human and dwarf is Ostwick, the elf roamed the Free Marches near Wycome. Never played qunari, but I think they are from there too)

So, it stands to pattern the next hero is from Orlais. Perhaps a variant of the Bard class, since bards can be anything. I'd play, that's for sure.

The Inquisitor felt utterly lifeless. I'd rather wash my hands of Inquisition and start fresh in Tevinter with someone who actually has a personality.

Minor point of order: I do feel like the game was finished; but I also feel like there's room for DA4 to be a direct sequel to Inquisition and feature the Inquisitor as the protagonist.

Though the more I think about it, the more attached I am to the idea of starting the game as an agent of the Inquisition.

I agree, keep the characters speart, also I think they are expermenting with the whole previous characters as cameos, considering there world famous "peoples choices" data they showed.

So how many people killed Hawke or other warden guy, or, Hawke or Ailster, or Hawke/Logain. Honestly... I'm still thinking over who I should leave behind in the fade... Alister or Hawke int hat playthough... its... hard... cause yea... I like them both.

Yes please. The inquisitor should get an expansion but not another game. theres a whole lore filled world out there that cant just revolve around one person. Hopefully we get to play as a more low key protagonist

I'm a bit torn, but at the same time, there's likely more content for this game that will involve something more for the protagonist at some point (at the very least holding dearly to hope!). I can settle with this and then moving on to a new protagonist in a totally different game. All I require is no more of this mysteriously disappearing crap. I assume that moving to northern Thedas can free the writers from pulling this kind of nonsense, since the Inquisitor is not going into hiding or anything like that and the Inquisition can just be a stabilizing agent that we might get a passing reference to.

Besides, how would this new game with the same protagonist work anyway? The Inquisitor doesn't seem to be a character who can really be imported like Shepard, and what of the abilities? Would it start from the level you left from the previous game? Would the abilities be the same even with the new gameplay mechanics? One of the things I like about the DA franchise is that I can change up the class in each game without having to think about it. You could do the same with Shepard, but it never made much sense to me, especially between ME2 and 3.

I think the Inquisitior should stay the protoganist in DA4 and I suspect that DA4 is DAI2

In a perfect world I want it to be released a DLC finishing Inqs story. And actually conclude his story. No dissapearance etc. And then we move on to a new protagonist for the next game.

HOWEVER, If the Inq will be featured in another game, I want the romances to  continue to be companions. No ME2 /ME3 disregaring ME2 romances bullshit. Coz I am a girl and a romantic, and love the notion of love being very strong. My Dorian will NEVER leave my Inq. As long as this is the case, I am happy with another game featuring the Inq.

I want a slave rebellion/Tevinter game soon. I want a more "local" game as well. No saving the whole world.

Should every Dragon Age title feature a new protagonist for that matter?

In Dragon Age Origins and in Dragon Age 2 I felt like the story of the warden and

Hawke's story respectively have been told, however I don't feel the same way for the

Inquisitor. How do you feel about that?

Was defeating Corypheus the sole purpose of the Inquisition?

Can there be not many more things for the Inquisition to do?

While I do expect some DLCs I think it could be nice if we had Dragon Age games with

the same protagonist for two games for example.

What do you think about that?

Well it seems like the tradition seems to be that a new character would be the new X but you would be like known as "Position" or whatever Like how DAO/DAA was "Warden", 2 was "Hawke" DAI was "Inquisitor".

I kind of remember way back i swear they were going to only trilogize and do just Warden but I am honestly thankful after how vaster and vaster this universe seems to be it seems like more and more possibilitys may open like being a orlisian noble, tavinter person perhaps or even a magister? who knows. i say skies the limit.

More importantly for me it should get the dark back into it's fantasy.

1000 times this. DA has gotten way to sanitised and PC lately. For game world that supposedly drew its inspiration form ASoIaF, it's drifted pretty far in style and tone.
