No Varric. I am sick and tired of him.

Known Characters (why any of them are north, I've no idea, other than Servis).
Ser Michel de Chevin - Guy was bad ass.
Crassius Servis - I think this guy was cool too, he outsmarted Cory and has his own selfish goals in mind, he seems to be happy to work for the right person at the right time for him, would conflict well against Michel.
Sky Watcher - The big Avvar guy (agent)
New characters:
A female Qunari that is with the Qun, closer to Sten and not Bull the better. (depending on location, in Anderfells game sent to investigate the Grey Wardens, in Tevinter/Antiva area, just from the Qun lost from her scouting party).
Rogue Dwarf - don't mind gender but from Kal-Sharok to trade and explore, knives not a bow user.
A Tevinter Slave elf - who is still in possession and happily working for a Tevinter noble (because like Dorian says, some have respect and a home). They work as basically the nobles private assassin as well as handy person. A plot point would be a that they are actually having an affair with the noble's son/daughter.

I would like to see Bioware have the stones to give us a lead character option that is not a warrior, rogue or mage; in fact not at fighter at all. Something akin to the Scholar in The Last Court game over at the Keep. We usually start off in these DA games with at least one sword & shield companion, one archer/dagger wielder companion and one charismatic wizard companion, so why not have a lead hero completely out of left field who has no familiarity with (or even any desire to grab a weapon and join in)?
In Inquisition for example, that Anchor thing could really have served as one interesting weapon all by itself without having to slash & bash, shoot arrows, or cut away with some type of blade. Imagine if while your more able companions were handling waves of foes, you were dashing about grabbing all of the goodies and/or firing off a plentitude of Mark of the Rift-style skills to bolster what they were doing? Bioware could have occasionally timed some quests (similar to Celene's ball) to quickly find necessary stuff while under fire in a real dangerous [and I mean your game might end] scenario and then once located, run like hell and just get the heck out of Dodge?
Not every person in Thedas desires to become a legendary fighter; right? There may come a time when our hero picks up a club or whatever and defends him/her/itself, but not always having us becoming Conan the Barbarian.

Doesn't really matter. I just want people with great personalities.
And fairly attractive romance options this time around.
Edit: Bethany romance option. ![]()

For Characters we've already seen:
Fenris, sorry I just liked him.
Alistair
Abelas
For new ones:
A Sarabas
A Templar who is still a Templar
Can probably think of more, but agree above I wouldn't mind seeing Carver Hawke either.

@Angerton You get a like for mentioning Servis who really has the potential to be a very interesting party member. The nice thing about him too is that handwaving his deaths can really be easy since we don't get to see what happens to him in those instances.

Assuming tervinter...LE warrior who's loyal to you and wants to rise you up in the tervinter hierarchy. Perhaps a bodyguard that was serving in your family or a tervinter templar who approves of tervinter as it is and the magister system. Having that character be female and a LI wouldn't hurt either... <.<
Dwarf. Non-revisionist one. Bearded, loving fights and ranging from semi to full drunk at all times.
A darkspawn disciple, ohmygawd how has it been two games since awakening and we don't have one yet, I thought it would have been an obvious choice. And if writers can go "yeah, but maker rezed leliana" I'm sure they can also go "yeah, turns out disciples lose the ability to pass the taint to others by being net to them if they have been a disciple for too long"
Saarebas. Can remain loyal to the qun and still serve you because for some reason he/she thinks it'd help the qun, or abandon the qun, depdning on your choices.
Femqun, preferably tamassran.
A dalish elf who wants the dalish to evolve and learn to benefit from modern technologies and methods without abanoning their traditions. Maybe wants to unite dalish clans to.
Someone from rivain, perhaps. Who's raised there and shares their culture.
Desire demon. Either a cole-like physical manifestation, or a passable-for-human-abomination. Preferably the latter.
Straight tervinter magister-wannabe. And by straight, I don't mean non-homosexual/bisexual/pansexual, I mean one who plays the trope of the magister as we've seen it so far, straight and doesn't subvert it. Likes tervinter, wants to rise the hierarchy, doesn't mind blood magic, enjoys having slaves.

Isabela's an admiral now, right, so she could be a military advisor.
We could get a representative from the Antivan Crows as a Spymaster, maybe someone from Tevinter as a diplomat?

As soon as they mentioned he outwitted Cory and there was an option to recruit him, I jumped at the chance. He was confident, arrogant, boastful, selfish and will work for whoever is right at the time, you get this from all of what? 3 minutes on screen? Fantastic.

Yup. I'm not crazy about evil companions (Morrigan came off like a total idiot sometimes in DAO), but the characters in DAI were just a tad too saccharine for my tastes. I'd love a character like Servis that cares only about themselves and has no qualms with double crossing others to get their way.

-A Chevalier, preferably male. We hear a lot about those fellows but we have precious little information on what they do beyond ''Orlesian people who fight''.
-A blood mage. Not a kinda-sorta-not-really-blood-magic-im-a-nice-person-honest like Merill. A true, blue blood mage who uses his/her power and gives no fucks (while still not being completely evil). If we go to Tevinter it would be much easier to make the character work.
-An Avaar. After Chief Morvan the Under's antics, not giving us a boisterous Avaar companion would be a crime. Special goat-throwing skills are mandatory.
-A Kal Sharok dwarf, prefrably female. We get it Bioware, Orzammar sucks, but maybe the other dwarven city is less bad and we could get a dwarf that is at least somewhat proud of his/her upbringing?
-An escaped Saarebas would be really cool too.

A true Saarabas would be great, if to recruit him, you had to do a quest that somehow made you Basvaarad, or were a Qunari Aavarad, in which case you get the saarabas right off since you are his handler. Either way it's up to you to keep him a bound saarabas or, free him and unstitch his mouth.
Wold work perfectly with the Iron Bull romance, if you made him Tal Vashoth then you find a saarabas that wants to go Tal Vashoth, if Bull is not Tal Vashoth, then your favor with the Qunari gains you a boon of a powerful weapon from them - the saarabas.
