Through a very, very weird and unexplainable (except by her) process, Col. Samantha Carter stepped through the stargate and rematerialized from Merril's Eluvian. Darkspawn, meet Mr. P90. Eh? Eh??
DA4 companions you'd like to see.

I think Samson would make a very interesting companion...

Female dwarf, I'll echo what many have said before in that I'd like it to be Scout Harding. OR a sword & board warrior could be interesting, too. Part of a noble house in Orzammar who got exiled for some reason?
Female qunari, possibly a mage. Would be cool if she actually grew up under the Qun before somehow escaping, and as such would be mute due to what they do to their mages.
Male human sellsword/brigand/bandit, middle aged, blunt, surly and rough. Could be either a rogue or a warrior. Doesn't fall into the whole "gruff exterior but secretly has a heart of gold" thing. Unrepentantly kills, burns and pillages either for the highest bidder or just for himself. Not to say that he'd be incapable of having a relationship based on respect with the PC or other party members or maybe even a friendship/romance if you're so inclined, but he would NOT be a nice man by any means. Definitely an evil character, neutral evil would be a pretty good D&D alignment for what I'm envisioning.
Someone from the Anderfels that could give a good look into their society and culture, which I don't believe we've had yet. Anders doesn't count since him being from there is hardly even mentioned.

Oghren, Shale, Sigrun, the dog, Finn, Velanna, Silas Corthwaite, Brogon and Jerrick Dace, Ariane, are a few that come to mind for me.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who wanted a 2H warrior female elf. I've been thinking and hoping about it so much for past couple weeks actually. I really want it to happen. And I wanted Connor to eventually become a grey warden and underling of my warden but DAI pretty much cancelled that hope out.
So yeah,
2H warrior female Elf (who is not like Sera)
Connor
Tevinter Magister
Female Qunari who is gorgeous(ie hair like in the concept art), preferably looks like Rasaan from the comics but still badass
A new dwarf; female or bearded male
Any Awakening companion
Companion with a traumatizing past (raped, watched family killed in front of them, etc)... too harsh?

Firstly, what I wouldn't want to see, the same companions we got in previous games. As much as I like them, I think each game should have a new set of characters.
My vote goes to Harding and a qunari female. Actually you know what, just more females in general. In DAI we only have 3 female companions in comparison to 6 male.

Well if Tevinter is likely to be the next setting then I think it should reflect their culture.
- A Black Templar. This would be a great way to reintroduce the Spirit Warrior skill into the game since it fits the Templars' 'semi-magical warrior' and mage fighting capability whilst fitting in with Tevinter's pro magical stance and it means they don't need any of the magister's tasty tasty lyrium. A Black Templar's *interesting* dynamics with his culture's magical obsession would be fun to play out.
- A Qunari gladiator. We know that Qunari can sometimes be taken as slaves and we know that Tevinter has gladiatorial combat, I can just imagine some badass looking female kossith with a snapped horn and a big championship belt around her waist.Unlike Bull who enjoys fighting, though, maybe she could be more like a weary, jaded old soul who grumbles and snarks about everything.
- A Dwarf from Kal Shirok. Since Orzamar is so far away and Kal Shirok has just been rediscovered it would make sense that the less traditional dwarves might send envoys out onto the surface. It might be a great chance for bioware to break the mold on some of their established dwarven tropes.
- A lone Dalish elf. Perhaps she grew tired of hearing about the plight of her people in Tevinter and has taken to raiding slave caravans to free her fellow elves and teach them the ways of her people until they end up forming some ragtag quasi-dalish clan of wandering freedom fighters.
- A Tranquil. Perhaps a disgraced magister or a soporati warrior that was made tranquil as a form of punishment. They could be like a warrior version of Spock, hacking dudes apart without a care in the world.

If there was a way to make it happen, Calpernia, ala the Templar route. She had a lot of potential. And I loved her armor.
