I know this is never going to happen but I would love to see Cullen as a companion. I just really want to see what would he banter about when with other companion.
DA4 companions you'd like to see.

Gay Cullen
Gay Alistair
Gay Sebastian
Can we finally have a gay Knight in Shining Armor after 4 games?

I'm curious how a sadistic (evil) character would really work. Obviously this character is going to be at odds with the entire group, save for maybe that one idgaf character that he/she gets along with for some reason, but what would really define this character as evil, and why would he/she help your PC on this quest?

A darkspawn companion. Now THAT would be something to see.
A romance-able female elf warrior.
A fully-fledged, dark-side loving Tevinter Magister.

Avvar
Venatori deserter
fade being (similar to Cole or Justice)
Qunari again (maybe a qunari mage this time?)
Red Lyrium dependant person
Crew member of Isabella's that would join you
The one mage guy from the mage origins from DRAGON AGE ORIGINS.
Hawke's brother/sister (if survived)
I agree with LaughingBanana and go with one of those talking darkspawn from DAA.

To everyone who wants an Avvar; I feel your pain, but it doesn't make any sense to have one as a companion if we're headed north. Our next-best bet is one of the scarred tribesmen from the Anderfels wastes.
I'm fine with that as long as his primary mode of attack is to hurl ruminant animals at the enemy.

Ariane because she was very good in Witch Hunt and we never had a warrior elf...
Bianca so we can see Varric again !
Bethany / Carver but as they could be both dead, it will probably never happen...

I'd like to have an Ash Warrior as a companion. That'd be cool.
Maybe a Dalish companion who isn't an outcast. I know we had Arianne, but there wasn't much interaction in Witch Hunt. I'd say bring back Arianne, but really she needs a spin-off game where her, Finn and the Warden's Mabari go off adventuring. Dragon Age: Adventure Time.
Mostly I'd just like to see new characters as companions who can give us a view on different cultures or places. Also, one way or another, we've had a lot of Fereldans. Maybe some more companions from places we've not been to.

other than her, I'd say
-Elf warrior
-Antivan that is not a crow
-Raivaini
-Ander ( someone from the anderfels not the whiny emo mage )
-Nevarran dragon hunter
-Orlesian Chevalier
-Tal Vashoth
-Lots of dwarfs

Out of the existing characters, just Krem I think. I ended up talking to him as much as my actual companions. Harding is a good option too.
Other than that, people from groups we've not seen yet. An Avvar? Fog warrior? Mortalitasi? There are all kinds of unusual people.

I too like the idea of a kid companion, sort of like a Thedas version of Oliver Twist or Annie. That kind of character would make for an interesting rogue for damned certain.
For that matter, an actual older companion could prove interesting; Wynne was as close as we've gotten. I know that the danger would be seeming too much like Gandalf, but as interesting as Flemeth has proven to be throughout these games; having someone like her as a full companion would have been awesome.
I enjoyed the roles that Morrigan and Leliana filled in Inquisition. I would not mind having previous companions graduate into something similar in the next game, but at this point I most definitely do NOT prefer to have any of the franchise companions roll over into the next game. I always love seeing the old gang appear, however I feel as if this habit has become more of a limitation tying each subsequent game too much into the previous one. I want to expand into other parts of the world that we have not seen, and that means leaving old companions behind and focusing on new ones set in the hopefully new countries that we have not spent time in. Bring them back - yes - but in the mold of Inquisition Morrigan/Leliana.
I would like to see the Inquisitor and his/her organization rebound too, but akin to how Hawke served in this game!

I'd like to see (assuming that we are going north - Nevarra & Tevinter):
* male Legion of the Dead warrior (former Kal Sharok dwarf; bisexual love interest, fits KISA stereotype)
* Scout Harding (bisexual love interest)
* Mortalitasi mage
* female qunari (any class will do)
* Maevaris Tilani
* Nevarran dragon hunter
* Fog Dancer (the Fog Warrior story tellers and lore experts)
* Avvar warrior

Very few game developers *cough* Naughty Dog *cough* have the guts to kill children in their games. I doubt EA or Bioware have the sack to do that.

As long as they don't bring back anybody how could be dead that would be a good start.
I actually think you should have a all new team whenever you change the protagonist. but the answer to this question is:
A Fex companion (any class... don't know what they can do).

There are regions where games that kill off children are illegal, and have to be censored. That creates a snag right there.

I live in Australia, one of the most nannying countries in the world when it comes to games and The Last of Us got through unscathed. Besides, people have VPNs to bypass silly censorship laws.

something with near unique skills, like Shale and Dog in DA:O
perhaps another golem or animal companion.
Other than that:
* A Chasind (unlikely, given that we move north, but we met one as a bodyguard in Chateau Haine, so it would not be impossible)
* A Disciple
* A Tranquil rogue archer
* An ancient elf (preferrably Abelas, but this seems unlikely given that he can die)
* An unapologetic blood magic practitioner who is not a complete ditz (i'm looking at you, Merrill)
* An ex-Red Templar/ Venatori
* Something like the Horned Knight from The Last Court (pretty interesting concept)

- a dwarf (a romanceable one this time)/ Harding or Sandal would be nice, too ![]()
- i'll go with the female qunari (seriously, there were absolutely no female qunaris in all 3 dragon age games except you played a female inquisitor, class doesn't matter but mage or sword/shield warrior would be interesting)
- an antivan bard or a follower of the chantry from Ferelden/Orlais (with some connections to the new divine, that our inquisitor chose)
- a dualhanded Avvar
- a really old pervy guy or a really young childish fellow (i can go with the idea of a kid like Kieran - with a complex or a surprisingly sarcastic nature)
- a non-emo elf (a warrior would be good change, female or male) or an elven ex-slave from Tevinter who faces his complexes head on
- someone from Nevarra ( a dragon slayer or a Mortalitasi)
- an ex-venatori
- i want the ash warriors back ![]()
- i want the marbari back (or another animal as follower or a summon)

I don't want to see a child companion. Makes no sense how they'd be able to fight alongside adults in medieval warfare, child soldier issues, and wouldn't add anything.
A child sidekick like wolf from nwn2 maybe.
iwas thinking something like an archer or an apprentice mage.
