Bioware why does an NPC get a Gandalf hat and not the player?

So I am at Skyhold and see a group consisting of a Qunari wearing Qunari armor, a human warrior with very cool looking plate armor and a mage with a freaking Gandalf hat! Why the hell can't we players have access to these? Massive epic failure Bioware!

They're the MP characters, I'd assume if you craft a certain armour set in mp you can get them to look like that.

Presumably because some characters get the short end of the stick. My Qunari inquisitor has nothing but the samey hideous armor you can craft at the start of the game, just with better stats.

It's a tad annoying when damn near everyone else in the game gets to look more stylish than the Inquisitor, and that's without even starting on that beige nightmare you have to wear at Skyhold.

Less customization choices, less armors, and no helmets at all, just really ugly facepaints. Qunari did not get the good end of the stick.

Yes the variety of armors available in the game is horrible. You would think with a crafting system they would let you have any and all armors and clothes you see the NPC's with. But no. You get 3 variations of the same horrible looking "inquisitor armor" for the whole game.
