Hi guys, I just came back to the game after a long while and wanna start a brand new adventure, a full play through the whole game, DAO, DA II and DA:I and I only played DAO a while back as a Human Noble Warrior but this time I wanna play through all 3 games as a Rogue class and can not make up my mind which would suit me better.

I know for sure I don't wanna play as a Dwarf. so the Choice is between City or Dalish Elf or Human Noble again. which would suit the whole thing better as I'll be transferring my play through to the DA II and DA: I as well. please share your feedback guys and I really appreciate it. Happy Holidays btw  ;)

City Elf just "feels" right to me.

If you play a female city elf dual wielding rogue, you will bathing in a tub of blood by the end of the Origin. The main villain of that story arc actually points that out.

You've already been a Human Noble, and personally it's not one I like that much. Still, there are some alternate outcomes it can get later on, so it's not an awful redo.

Of City Elf and Dalish Elf, I have to dramatically favour the City Elf. Dalish Elf does have its moments, and builds up in the DLC (Witch Hunt), but is generally disconnected and kinda boring (well, in my opinion). I also prefer City Elf over Human Noble, as you probably guessed. If you do go City Elf, I'd suggest rolling up a female character: the origin changes noticeably depending on gender, and female's way cooler.

Do you want to be an archer or a dual-wield? They all work for all, but I guess archer makes a bit more sense for a Noble or a Dalish, and dual-wield for City Elf.

I'd recommend a city elf for a female character and Dalish elf for a male.

I'd suggest Dalish if you're going male rogue.

As for the armor, it doesn't changed based on race, though massive plate gloves look comical on elves.  But, since you're going rogue, you're probably going to stick with leather armor anyway.

As for nightmare, that's ultimately up to you.  I don't play nightmare because of the friendly-fire since I like AoE attacks.   :P

I personally recommend City Elf if a dual-wielder, a Daish if an archer. If a City Elf, you get one of the best knives in the game (Fang), and obviously as a Dalish it makes sense to be an archer since you're a hunter. I think they both make stronger story sense since your lifestyle is more conducive to stealth-based combat.

City elf has a better integrated overall story than Dalish and while the female side of the story has much more punch in the Origin, the male one is good too.  I liked the Dalish, but it felt very weak and disconnected (aside from a couple of good moments) from the overall game story wise.  But that's just my take on it, you may feel differently.

As others have pointed out, archer works well with a Dalish, dual wield with the City Elf.

I can't offer any advice on difficulty.  I only played on Casual and Normal (dislike FF as I tend to do a lot of AOE'ing).

You can always adjust difficulty in game. You might start out in Nightmare and lower it if needed or start at normal and ratchet it up as you regain in game muscle memory. Many people who play on Nightmare routinely lower the difficulty for certain fights.

My main warden is a dalish male rogue archer, I found that this particular origin is the more suited, I don't want to spoil but you'll have some good and bad moments (the ambush on the camp) and of course, if you romance Morrigan and play the Witch Hunt DLC, it gives more closure for your character.

As for the difficulty, I recommend to play on hard first ;)

Without giving too much away, I think the City Elf is best integrated into the "main plot" (though I think they all do to varying degrees), even just in that you were born and raised in Denerim, the capital city. Denerim is also where most of the nobles and royals are, so you know it'll be important later. And, not to give yet more away, but a lot of the people the human noble would have reason to hold a grudge against, the city elf does too.

I think the Dalish Elf is technically a little more disconnected from the main non-stop-the-Blight-related plot, I think it works because classic heroes were always "outsiders" who came into new places to save people. (Just look at every Greek hero ever made. And folk heros.) Also, not to give anything away, but the Dalish do become more significant in later games than they appear now, so it is worthwhile to play as a Dalish if you wish to now.

Ok 1 more question, Is there any incentive to play the game on Nightmare or Hard? is there any achievement or anything for it?

YES. It's so much more rewarding. Go for it.

Be warned though, do NOT go to the Deep Roads quest first. It's designed to be taken on later in the game, and often times people haven't realized this until it's too late. You should do Redcliffe first, then Brecilian Forest, then Deep Roads, with some Denerim side-quests in between to keep you leveled up and powerful.

And personally Dalish are amazing. I wish I was a Dalish elf in real life.  :(

Personally I would advice to at least try Hard first ... then if you think it is still a bit to easy switch to Nightmare. :)

Try Hard. It's a gradual step up and will allow you to get better before you jump into Nightmare.

Sadly I haven't played as much as I would like to (been so many other games to play), but I was playing my first Hard playthrough and was astonished at how easy everything was if you set tactics up right.

Edit: Though there IS an achievement for Nightmare, and there might be one for Hard too, I don't recall.
