Even so making a human noble rogue is not out of character as one would assume quite a few nobles would train into archery or daggers. As others have mentioned Sebastian and mother Cousland are perfect examples of that. Maybe a bit weird for a male noble but it fits perfectly that a female noble would train into daggers or bow instead of big ass swords and sword and shield combat.

My Trevelyan was a rogue (Female), who romanced Cullen and choose Tempest and damn it - that was one of the best playthrough I have ever done.
Bear in mind - Rogues are one of my favourite class to play (Mage is 2nd and Warrior is 3rd) but I never really played as a rogue in DA:II because...well, it sucked *shrugs*. (Plus you had Varric as archer, Isabela as dual wielder then Seb (if recruited) as an archer), it felt off balance).
This time, they've worked it out, it felt more like Origins but at the same time, it gave it a fresher feel to it. (I still can't steal but I guess I can make do).
Seriously - just watching her set herself on fire then flipping and weaving through the battles. One of the moves I liked to do was poison the knives, go into stealth mode and use the grappling chain so she could fly toward them and kick them right in the face then do that rush move that would get to slide through them so she was at their back and do deathblow. If done correctly, I would kill them leaving Deathblow full without needing to cool down. And making sure the grappling chain had the second tier unlocked which gave it no cool down, she was razing the battlefield. *sighs* loved it.
I think nobles being rogues is one of the best thing. I tend to use my Dalish and my Dwarves as warriors. One of my Lavellan is a mage though (and she solos the battle field). It seems like something a noble would (especially a female considering if you remember what some noble men could be like).

Let me see...
She has always been the black sheep of her family. While her sisters were learning etiquette, she was helping the groundsman skin dear. While they were becoming ever more versed in the ways of politics, she was stringing her bow and catching game. Her parents merely scoffed when she refused her allowance, but they were positively mortified to discover that their girl - a Trevelyan, no less! - was making her own coin taking bounties at the local inn.
It's only recently they have started speaking again. Twenty nine years old, and only now being addressed like an adult. She knows why, too. Turns out the family need a representative at these peace talks. While they bemoan her lack of airs and graces, they know she will hear more than either of her Sisters. And if there is one thing they love more than pomp and circumstance, it's juicy gossip.
Aka it's easy enough, if you put a bit of thought behind it.

What is the problem? It's a way to fight, not a lifestyle. The class name and the actual ability use - are different things. There are no warriors who can use bows or double blades (in the game, of course) but the skills are there and belong to "agile stile of rogue". Play as an archer and feel no guilt!

I consider my rogue (Trevelyan) to be a sort of Andrastian blade-dancer. She learned fencing and some self-defense growing up, as well as how to dance at balls, and has just kind of run with it. The Inquisition providing a situation where increased combat experience has been provided.
As far as being a leader goes, that stems both from practicality and necessity (she's the only one with the Anchor) and from her personality rather than her profession. I've played her as rather self-effacing, and very aware of and grateful for the support and advice she receives from her companions and advisers, but also able to make difficult decisions where necessary. Her primary motivations are compassion and minimising harm to people, and she believes in Cassandra and Leliana's ideals for what the Chantry could be. She's not an obvious kind of leader, but she's a people person, and sometimes that can be as important a quality in a leader as outright ambition.

Yeah, I feel kind of weird playing as a Trevelyan Noble that specializes in Rogue.
Doubly so if I play my Inquisitor as a devout Andrastian. It just feels... incorrect.
Hey, I'm playing my qunari as a devout andrastian...that's weird.

I never said that there are no female warrior nobles that would be unreasonable. However renowned warriors Cassandra and Aveline are they are the exception. You would think not many women would train in the sword and shield combat since their bodies are physically weaker than a full grown man of the same training. Regardless there is a great number of female templar npcs around but my point wasn't that it's weird for a female noble to be a warrior rather that it's not out of character for them to be a rogue wielding daggers or bows. In my mind females fit the role of quick movement and stealth that is required for the rogue training better than a male especially if they are also bulky (I'm looking at you male Qunari rogues
)
In any case the game's lore provides with enough background to give you the freedom to choose whatever you like and still be acceptable in terms of story however as I said before what is the ideal leader differs from person to person, for me the most fitting Inquisitor is a sword and shield human male Templar since it fits my concept of the ideal leader (warrior leading from the front etc) but also fits the Trevelyan's background.

Emperess Celine is a rogue, so a rogue can also fit as a leader of a powerful organization.

I'm doing a human archer playthrough right now. A few factors play into my mind as to what he is.
I think of Sebastian's story about what his grandfather said about being an archer. Something along the lines of being the thinking man's way of fighting...I leave the stick up the butt side with Sebastian, though.
I think of how Anora described Cailan in her talk with my Grey Warden. Something about how he was better suited to have been a dashing rogue who led a small group of companions on adventures...or something like that.
I see my human noble rogue as being something of a swashbuckler-type...searching for adventure, fame, and fortune. He wants to deal with Corypheus because he's a threat, but the idea of the fame he'll garner is extremely appealing...after all, chicks dig heroes - at least in his mind. And that's a very good thing...
He is also greatly attracted to Leliana. Not just for her looks (dang, she's good looking), but also for the life she's been living as a spy. In my playthrough; Leliana is just a friend of THE Grey Warden, not a love interest...but his attraction to her is doomed to be unrequited. So, he focuses his attention on Scout Harding who he finds quite intriguing.
He tends to group with the "fun" companions who hang out in the tavern during their off-duty hours. Sera (dual wielding rogue since the AI doesn't seem to have archers keep their distance from the action), Iron Bull, and Dorian. No rule against having some fun while saving the world, or so he thinks.

Many of the backstories revolve around spying or protection - both of which are good rogue stories. For example, while the Dalish mage story can be interesting in the actual story, a Dalish rogue makes far more sense since you were sent to spy. And my stealthy rogue is an excellent spy.
I also disagree with any background being a better "leader." We have seen leaders of all classes in previous games (NPC leaders).

The thing about the premise is that the Inquisitor doesn't really have to be the kind of person who'd normally be put in charge - they end up with the mark entirely by accident because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I had fun playing a female dwarf rogue, one of the last people you'd expect to become head of one of the most important organisations in Thedas, as a fish out of water who rose to the challenge in front of her.
Pretty much this. I also head canon that my rogue was going to be a Seeker, even though she can never talk to Cassandra about it.
