If you recall he also had that crazy dalish elf warden's sister with him and she disappears after you kill him.
She was gone way before you even fought him.

My dad thought Corypheus was the Architect when he first saw him, but I had to explain to him that it was a different one lol :3 I was really disappointed not to see the Architect appear in Inquisition, especially since I let him live. You'd think he'd do something about Corypheus... either help or try to hinder him.
The Architect is the darkspawn version of Hawke. They would rip the hole in the sky by accident
Do we truly have anything to support that, other than Kolgrim's assertions? Even if the ashes were corrupted, whatever gave them their power still exists. Leliana credits the Maker with saving her. It's also possible that the ashes being on top of a mountain of lyrium had something to do with it.But those were corrupted if you killed her there...

If that were true, the guardian and the faith spirit in Wynne would not protest. Not to mention that every form of corruption in this universe has clear consequences, and taking in dragon blood in particular is shown to have at least a mildly corruptive effect (e.g. reavers, qunari).
Not sure that would have worked as others have said he wasn't a villan as such he just wanted to make the darkspawn better.
I let him live in awakenings though and was hoping to see how that decision affected the world, but seems it made no difference at all... which was a little disappointing.
Same here. I keep hoping he'll be in DA 4 and have something to do with a cure for the taint, but...*sigh*
Personally I would've rather had a new character then a returning antagonist although I never played Legacy so I was viewing Coryphy for the 1st time.
They totally wasted the Architect in Awakening, he was far to interesting an antagonist to kill off so soon. He deserved an entire game dedicated to fighting him, not an add-on. It seems like they always introduce interesting characters in the novels, and then deal with them in fairly unsatisfying ways in the games. Maybe Corypheus might have seemed less boring if he had featured in a book and we got to delve into his story more.
I'm in total agreement with what you said about the novels. They introduce so many cool characters that pop up in the games and then immediately get killed off. Despite how amazing The Masked Empire was, we're never going to see a proper sequel because of all the variables. There's 5 or 6 potential mixes of rulers and 3 potential divines. Imshael pops up and then dies after a fight that's kind of anticlimactic. Michel dies if he doesn't. The Stolen Throne was great because it stood up on its own two feet. You could read it and like or dislike it independent of knowledge of the greater setting. The Calling was okay in that regard. Admittedly, the Architect was more of an expansion villain than a main game villain. Corypheus is much the same, which is why him being the MAIN villain of Inquisition seemed to shock some people.
At least the 3 main characters of Asunder are still intact no matter what. Rhys, Evangeline, and Cole might one day meet again in another novel. Meanwhile, TME feels like less a novel able to stand on its own merits and more one big advertisement/teaser for the Orlesian subplots in Inquisition. And it's a terrible shame that I have to say that about anything written by Patrick Weekes because he's, bar-none, my favorite Bioware writer.
