Though if you ask me, saying "Ah **** it, war was gonna happen anyway!" To try and excuse the murder of an entire town and a war is the very definition of someone with loose screws. Or, George Bush.
Reasons the Dalish have it so wrong

Start what? the war? Not the topic here. Humans added loads of tension, just like the elves. Humans played just as much as role (if not more) in creatinf tensionss that led to war. And they did nothing to de-escalate the tensions.
If you're just talking about bad human elven relations prior to red crossing only, and not red crossing itself, then I agree.

Maybe if the elves hadn't been so stupid they wouldn't have put themselves in that position, the Dales were the perfect chance for human-elf friendship, instead they closed the borders & treated all outsiders as enemies which eventually led to their destruction
That was merely the elven government. The people did nothing to deserve it. The humans saw elves with mistrust because they didn't follow the maker, didn't had circles and their mages had absolute freedom and wanted to isolate themselves because the lore indicates that will increase their life span.

It was the gift of Andraste to her loyal General Shartan.
Had that war never happened...I cannot fathom a reason why it would have been annulled.

It's not the topic, it's that there is a coterie of people who troll every elven thread on the board until it turns into this. There's no benefit in even responding to any of their posts. You'll soon figure out who they are.Man there is no end when it comes to Red Crossing. The short time I've been a member of this forum, I've learned to avoid it whenever the topic turns to this.
I have one thing to say, if the elves were meant to be portrayed as the ones to blame only, they would have depicted them as the woodland savages with blood dripping down their mouths instead of going into detail how tensions were strong between the both parties, which led to an elf being murdered for wandering too close to a human settlement. It pretty much tells that humans saw the elves as savages; the same reason they attacked them when the elves came to Red Crossing for the knight who abandoned them.
Whatever, no one is convincing anyone it seems. Carry on with opinions.

When to people stand face to face, punches ready and insult each other for years without any of them backing down or doing anything to ease the situation...One is going to eventually throw a punch. So yes, its was as inevitable as inevitable gets.

You seem to be forgetting that Orlais was created through the conquest of Drakon's neighbors, and that he imposed his particular Cult of the Maker on his new subjects. That's hardly conducive for good relations with a kingdom where the elves were following their own religion, and wanted to govern themselves.
Except.
EXCEPT the very Dogma of that Empire was that the mouth piece of God granted them that land for service rendered.
Honestly that logic falls flat.

That's the kind of attitude that makes war inevitable.
And it ignores the reality of what happened in red crossing.

One person can still say "hey let's back off"
neither side did, the Elves threw their punch, and ended up in the dirt with a few limbs missing. The elves as the instigators had the duty to de-escalate, not their victims

Not really, there were others sects of chantry. Drakon and his sect won because of sheer numbers. So the current chantry might be a lie and the true way of following maker was destroyed by him. My point is, Orlais was quite warmongering. They invaded anywhere they could.

You keep saying that despite Drakon not being around yet when the Dales 1st went into isolation

Indeed. Bit off more than they could chew, got fucked up for it, then got mad when the humans spat on them afterwards.

The Dales closed off their borders to Orlais, and there were issues between the Dales and Orlais, which even prevented Drakon's plans to conquer the Free Marches.

A few limbs missing doesn't even begin to describe what happened to elves.

That was the attitude of both sides so to no one's surprise it lead to war.

The only other sect of the cult of the Maker before Drakon was in Tevinter.
o.o somehow I doubt they voiced much fuss over Orlais's sect or it's belief.

There were no other sects of Chantry. Being Andrastian and a part of the Chantry are two very different things.

I was referring to the fandom. We're not the ones saying war was inevitable. There is a point of no return, but that didn't come till after red crossing, when the hostilities truly broke out.

Sad really, the leaders who share most of the blame for the war ran away & became the Dalish while their civilians got punished for their mistake & became the City Elves

There are actual wars that happened because messenger of one side tripped and died and the whole country got blamed for it. But their fate was nothing close to what elves endured for 700 years.

Well that isn't what happened here, and anyway I don't think anyone's saying current elf oppression is right. Only that the initial outcome was to be expected.

Tevinter is not a mere sects. When Leliana becomes divine other sects rise, aka very similar with different goals. Its still the southern Andrastian with different goals. There was other sects at the time of Drakon. He crushed them all.
