The reason I ask this is my overall level is only about 91 since I don't have many characters at max rank yet (only been playing the multiplayer for about a week) . However I have friends that have literally started playing the same time I have, yet they seem to regularly get items that are high quality item level blues or better. Mainly the DPS figures are much higher, my best waraxe is at about 145, yet my friends have axes in the 220's or higher yet I have never seen a drop that high. Could it be tied to your total rank (number in the top right)?
Can anyone confirm if item quality is tied to MP rank?

Tested and confirmed zero correlation, there are other threads about this.
Looking for patterns in RNG is not a successful proposition.
Some people got lvl 23 uniques within hours of starting MP. Some people have prestiged a character 20 times or more and don't have a lvl 23 unique

I don't think it does. I know someone that's ranked at 4 the last time I checked and his droprate is as crappy as mine. RNG is RNG.

It may be slightly affected, but overall most users, including myself, seem to think its just RNG.
Quite simply, if it seems you've got more uniques by a higher prestige, that's because you've earned more gold - and had more chances at the uniques.

All the items I have, I got my first week or 2 of playing. Ever since then everything I get is absolute garbage. I logged in the game this weekend to check out the event. I got nothing but trash in both event chests as well.

I would like to believe it isn't tied to rank nor to anything else, but it is tough. I try to presume some people are simply much luckier.
I watched a video of a dude spending 130k Gold, he basically got a purple every other chest. A purple +3 blues in a single chest was quite trivial for him.
Me? I get a blue every 5 Large Chest, and haven't seen a purple for the last 30 or so Chests.
