As someone who has only played one match of MP, would you recommend it?

No, I wouldn´t recommend it right now. The only time it´s fun for me is when I am with friends and things are going well and even then it´s only decent fun, nothing stellar.

Where ME caught me from the start and was unhealthily addicting, DAMP is downright frustrating and repetitive with killer RNG.

I believe it can get better, but they need to make changes, so I am waiting what future updates bring.

...or maybe you just *gasp* like ME3 combat more than DA combat? They're two distinct games from the same developer. I mean did you hate on Dragon's Dogma because it didn't play like Resident Evil? Expansion support for DAMP is coming, just have some patience.

To be fair DAI is an inherently worse execution of a party based action RPG than ME3 was of a third person shooter with RPG elements.

Perhaps if there'd been multiplayer for ME2 there'd be a more direct comparison. The really need to pick a gameplay style and stick with it for more than one game in this series just so they can iron out the quirks in a given system.

Man I could totally nerd out over some Dragon's Dogma but...it'd derail the thread even further. My dream / pie-in-the-sky RPG would be BioWare level character development and world building with Capcom level fighting mechanics. All with some form of multiplayer. I'd seriously **** my pants.

Sounds like you're talking about the potentially greatest fantasy action-RPG ever conceived

btw you are not X-Men

Are you saying they won't be releasing a DLC in the future letting me play as Nightcrawler?

Anyway, more on topic,

Yes, I would recommend it.  It has a lot of issues, but I am hopeful that they will eventually be remedied, and it is still fun regardless.
