I was looking forward to this title, but unfortunately I had to return it.  The game wouldn't run for more than 10 minutes without crashing to desktop, some sort of run time driver error on my video card.  I had updated all drivers, tried it with and without overclock, with and without crossfire, and still kept crashing.  Glad you have a 24 hour return policy at least.  Also appreciate the callback from customer service -- issue was account related and not game related but was very helpful.

Mine works just fine. You might need to update your hard ware. Then get a new copy.

I know of a an easy fix for this. Buy a ps4 and never have to worry about your games not working again and enjoy them on "high" settings running smooth as butter.

Its not the persons PC thats the problem.  Its Bioware's rushing products that aren't completed and tested.  This game has so many gd bugs in it its just sad.  MP is damn near unplayable atm and has been since DLC.  Its only been tolerable before the DLC but with far less key dropping errors.

This games a broken heap that needs a new developer to take the reigns.  Drop the EA from your title and replace it with someone who gives a ****.

Considering that every game running on a  Windows PC uses DirectX as interface, the old argument about countless hardware combinations falls a bit flat. As long as you have the minimum requirements, the game should run.

I don't understand why he made an account for one post to say that he'd already returned the game.

Or even better, get it on a PC with a Mantle compatible GPU. The PS4 version is hardly "smooth as butter" since it's capped at 30fps, which is a last-gen standard. With mantle I've had a very smooth experience with only two CTDs in two playthroughs. It's just a shame that Bioware didn't optimize the game properly for Nvidia / DirectX users, though they might still do that.

I'm running on NVIDIA/DirectX. I play on 1440p with everything on Ultra and 2x MSAA...no probs. No CTDs, no stuttering...nada.

System specs:

i7 4820k @ 3.7GHz w/ Corsair H60 cooler

16GB RAM

GTX 780ti Superclocked w/ ACX cooler

Windows 8.1

this is why i play on consoles.

*sigh* Aren't console vs PC arguments always fun? You'll never change someone's mind, so why bother? If you have the money, go PC. If you don't (or don't want to spend it for pretty graphics), go console...simple as that.

I know of a an easy fix for this. Buy a ps4 and never have to worry about your games not working again and enjoy them on "high" settings running smooth as butter.

I'd rather enjoy them on "Ultra" 1440p...

OP should have posted system specs. The problem is that everybody's PC is different...whereas consoles are all the same within their brand. However, I think someone said it perfectly...you need to make sure your system meets specs before purchasing. This game will put a PC through it's paces, for sure.

Ever since I got my new computer in the mail few days ago I couldn't help but to notice how much stable the game ran. I no longer have the DirectX errors, and no stuttering like I was experiencing with my old PC.

Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.140303-2144)
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz (8 CPUs), ~4.0GHz
Ram: 8192MB
Card name:  EVGA FTW Edition NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card

It isn't the games fault for not working on your outdated machine.

PS, go to http://www.systemreq...ntslab.com/cyrito see if your PC can run the game.

If you are using a NVIDIA GPU, then you don't have to worry about Mantle, it doesn't do anything you couldn't do already. It only adds a little bit of performance in a few select areas. DirectX 12 will include all that, too.

Game runs smoothly in ultra on my Intel/NVIDIA machine, no CTDs or anything.

I might not like the game much, but it works fine for me. It's a system resource chewing beast however, so if your hardware is not up to it, it will fall over a lot.

Lord Raijin...  The i74790K is a quad core and Unless you are building your own motherboards you don't have 8 CPUs.  If you want 8 cores you'll have to go AMD (which I'm using at an out of the box 4.3ghz with 32gigs DDR3 2400 and a pair of R9-270's in Xfire AND a liquid cooling system).  All on 8.1 Professional and this game pushes it to the edge with higher temps and usage than anything else I have thrown at it including a lot of graphic rendering in my Photoshop suite.  I can run the game on Ultra with few crashes to desktop but wow, this game eats processors like candies.

The game is poorly designed.

That would be a good idea if PSN wasn't down constantly.

The i7 5960X has a full 8 cores. Mind you, it's all also only on the X99 chipset and it's horribly expensive.

Just looked at it over on Newegg's site and it's over a grand and only running at 3Ghz...  This is a reason I went with AMD at 4.3 or higher with an overclock.  The i7 is a good processor and they seem proud of the 5960x.  I would imagine it benchmarks well.

Good to know. I'm a moderator on EA's tech forums (Answer HQ) and it seems the vast majority of the crash reports are from Nvidia users, but now that I think of it, Nvidia has a much larger market share so that makes sense.

Ahhh... I was wondering when the console wars/console vs PC/Fanboy sheep would take their leave from silly forums like IGN and come here to troll about a bit.

Sorry kids, DA:I is rated 18+. Do your parents know you're playing a naughty game?

And, boy.... the game is naughty. Take a look here (EA Support for DA:I): http://answers.ea.co...p/DAInquisition it is literally the most democratic game I've ever seen - It crashes on every system, be PC or Console, be it current or old gen, be it Sony, Microsoft, Apple or generic PC.

There's a good argument that consoles are better than PCs when they are new technology for this reason (at least for games where there is not a lot of modding).  The problem comes with them when they age and PC's have become so much more powerful (what's worse is that consoles hold back game engine development).  Anyway my prediction is that this will be the last major generation of consoles as we move more towards integrated technology and cloud based computing.

PC Gamers are so funny.

Glad I quit playing games on the PC.

I'm no longer stuck at a computer desk in the home office, I sit in my living room, on a nice, comfy couch or my recliner.  I no longer need to sit in a desk chair, upright for hours at a time.  I no longer need the game, random websites, and VOIP accounts all running just to play online with friends.

I no longer have to spend $500.00 every 18 months (average) to have an up-to-date computer.  I went from buying software, hardware, peripherals, etc, to a choice of colors for my controllers, which is about $60.00 every 24 months.

I no longer get irritated by games that crash/run poorly just because I am running the wrong version of a driver, or some other random incompatible line of code.  Now, I know that anything I install to my console will work, as intended, without flaw, or added steps required.

I went from having 2 computers running 3 monitors, to NO computer in my home, and absolutely love it.  I have my console, a Surface Pro (not really a comp.), and a whole lot of extra cash for more games.

So... yeah...

Maybe we could stop on ranting about PC or console gamers and just have a nice talk about the actuel problem?

I would appriciate it a lot!

BTT

It might be helpfull, if you would post your systemspec.'s

I had a few CTD's too. but i think it was caused by tabbing out of the game a little bit to much. ^^

Just for those 'lazy-driver-guys'

I could say the same about console gamers, but I won't. It's a pointless argument. I just get ticked off when people make gross generalizations:

#1 - It's almost 2015...don't you think that most PC gamers by now would have caught onto the idea of wireless mice/keyboards/controllers? I can sit in my nice comfy living room on my nice comfy couch looking at my nice 51" HDTV listening to my nice 7.1 surround system while playing any game that I want on my PC that is in a completely different room...with better graphics than a console.

#2 - I buy a new computer every 3 - 4 years. Generally I don't need to spend a dime on upgrades during that time since I buy a system that is technologically viable for longer.

#3 - I never have any issues playing games on my PC. I keep things up to date (drivers, etc), well-maintained, and clean. I don't pirate software and I'm very careful about what/where I download. I do, however, have problems keeping my consoles in working order. I also seem to remember wanting to throw my controllers against the wall in frustration when the stupid console would freeze for the upteenth time. I've gone through 2 Xbox 360's and would need a 3rd ps3 if I didn't just say "screw it" and buy an actual Blu Ray player instead. I haven't purchased one of the "next gen" consoles and never will.

Console vs PC is one of the dumbest arguments to have. When someone is looking for help, it is not constructive to reply with something along the lines of "your fault for playing on PC, consoles FTW!" I would never do that to someone in one of the many discussions out there where people are having problems with the same game on a console.
