When you talk to the little kids in the alley, they're playing as "human heroes" like Maric and Andraste. You have a chance to tell the kids about elven heroes instead. Blargha is some warrior you tell them about. You can also tell them about Tathas or King Korin. For some reason, Soris only expresses surprise when you talk about Blargha. It's such obvious bullshit.

Ahh thanks. I forgot about that. And it's awesome how that ties in to the blank journal we can give Velanna in DAA. One of the few times I actually liked her haha

My first Hero was a male mage, so I figured he's never had a pet much less spent much time outside the Circle. So I had him name his mabari Ironbite. When I played Hawke in DA:2, I had her mabari named Remy,

I was aware of that. I figured my rogue Hawke adopted some of her mother's upper class upbringing.

Dalish Warden - Fen'dirth - 'knowledgeable/wise wolf'

Cousland Warden - Owyn - 'young fighter' (Highever = Celtic?)

Casteless Warden - Nugmuncher

City Elf Warden - Garahel - Name of the elven slayer of the previous Archdemon, as relayed by Duncan on the way to Ostagar.

Heh, some of the ones I've chosen might seem a bit... grandiose to someone actually living in Thedas. Most probably call their pets things like Bubbles and Sprinkles(the name of my own cat in my native language) just like we do. Ser Pounce-a-lot would seem to agree. Names are just really interesting and easy to research these days, and I like drawing on that.

I generally choose names in RPGs that will fit the setting, so with my warden being a Human Noble Old English seemed the most suitable.

I would've named a cat Morgana if I were given a cat in DA...

I tend to name my mabari corresponding to either the background of my character, or their personality

I've had Hafter and Dane for my human characters (one of my first characters named hers Miguel (I'd just seen The Road to El Dorado at the time :P )

One Dalish character named his Abelas (sorrow), the other named hers Aravas(the journey)

My only Dwarven character named him Amgarrak (victory)

My current Warden (City Elf) named hers Ronan, I also have one planned for another mage Warden who I'll call Bowen (name of a head canon Templar who took them to the Circle as a child and who sort of became a father to them)

As for my Hawke's...they tend to name them depending on the arch personality I choose, for example...

I've had a few Sarcastic Hawke's who named their dog either Cookies or Biscuit

Whilst the Diplomatic ones tend to go with more normal names such as the ones stated above

I changed my mind about calling him Falon after I learned about this Jimmy Fallon guy. Suddenly it doesn't feel like a legitimate elven word anymore.

I'll go with Enasalin next time.

I'm having a lot of fun trying to justify Cousland naming his/her dog "Miguel" now. Oriana is Antivan-born, so I'm thinking cultural exchange through girl-talk? Cousland naming his/her dog to tease Oriana about a confessed old sweetheart? Or maybe the arrangement of Fergus' marriage involved the younger sibling going there as well and having his/her own experiences?

I like your style.

My warden who named her dog Miguel was a Circle Mage, so I justified it as something she'd read in a book somewhere

Seeing as the Circle is filled with books there's no doubt to be some books with historical names in it from all over Thedas

Another Circle mage I'm planning (also the current name of my City elf Warden) is going to be Minerva, which also sounds Antivan, and I head canon her as being half (if she's going to be human) or fully Antivan (if I plan on another elf)

Like with my Warden names I'm also compiling a list of names for the Mabari

Here are some others in case people need ideas

White (which I head canon as a white/albino mabari hound)

Drake

Duke

Fang

Salrokka (obviously for a dwarf, or someone who enjoys Dwarven culture)

and Tempest

Minerva is a straight Roman name, so a Tevinter background would fit it too if that idea has any appeal to you.

Macbeth. Just happened to be the first name I thought of (maybe because it starts with "Ma" like Mabari? I dunno).

RUNT! For me, Runt is the best name for a mabari.  :)
