Hey can anyone point me in the direction of some cool asymmetrical games out there for PS4 or PC (Steam)?

I am trying to psych myself up for Evolve and I was looking for some similar games. A FPS/3PS hybrid is not a requirement, just any game that provides the player with two or more completely distinct methods of playing. Truth be told any RPG or Strategy games that can encompass an 'Evolve-like' gameplay would be preferred, with co-op modes being a big bonus.

Can anyone help me out? I need to pass the time before Evolve comes out, and I wouldn't mind getting myself a Christmas present. :)

This is the first I've heard the expression "asymmetrical games."

The only thing I can think of is Spore, but I really didn't like the Tribal stage of gameplay, so it's hard to recommend it.

Well asymmetrical is the best way I can describe something like Evolve.

The monster has a completely different means of playing the game compared to the hunters.

I played that one, pretty good but I was hoping for some other titles.

AVP 2010 is cheap on steam these days. It still has a small but dedicated mp fanbase. Last time I checked you could find one or two full servers at any time.

Be sure to add me on steam if you do go for it.

I was just browsing Steam and I saw this game:

I'm definitely thinking about getting Depth, but does anyone know if there are any RPGs or Strategy games out there with asymmetrical gameplay?

I have played Universe At War: Earth Assault and the Hierarchy faction has Reaper-like walkers as their buildings.

Easily one of the most unique RTS factions I have played.

Judging from your avatar picture, Dawn of War is out of the question. Playing the Imperial Guard in any of the DOW games is basically asymmetrical mode.

XCOM (all of them) is also asymmetrical. Your side will always be outmatched by the enemy.

Crysis 3 had a mode where one side played as weak grunts fighting against killers in nanosuits. I never played it so I cannot say much.

Company of Heroes 2 is technically asymmetrical. Their developers have used this as an excuse to balance the game.

A couple more that I am probably missing out.

Dawn of War: Dark Crusade is one of my favorite RTS games. I loved the Necrons in that game. Nothing is quite as satisfying as running my Necron Lord into a battle and then using Mass Resurrection.

Hey in keeping with the asymmetrical discussion, does anyone know of any games where you can play as an A.I.?

I know that various RTS games or Turn Based Strategy games have robotic factions, but is there any games out there where you can play a bonafide HAL or SKYNET? Being able to travel through information networks, hack into things, etc.?
