I really hope you aren't referring the refugees quest where the hunter is asking you to brave the roads filled with templars/mages/bandits/demons to get some meat.

You know, I almost abandoned the franchise at Origins when it was just constantly bullshit dungeon after bullshit dungeon. I like II and Inquisition quests better than "LULZ YOU GOTTA RESCUE KIDNAPPED ******" "LULZ WE AIN'T GONNA HELP YOO CUZ POLITICS" "LULZ I BLOOD MAGIC NAOW" "LULZ I ALSO BLOOD MAGIC NAOW" "LULZ GAEM OF THRONES, PUT ME ON TEH THRONE OR I'LL BETRAY YOO"

I think it would have tanked DAI if they incorporated Hawke any more than they did. Best to pretend DA2 didn't happen.

Agree.. Anyway, best character of DA2 is in DA:I. Better to have newer characters and focus on the world. I also hope the warden is successful on his mission but don't want him back as main character.

Honestly, I think Dragon Age is the game where they can keep on creating new characters and new ideas, and in Mass Effect they stick to the old ones more. I'm quite sure next Dragon Age will be totally different again, and that's what I hope for. More story and less meaningless questing, at least.

Given the most hot topics on this forum BW an EA will make crapload of money by turning DA4 into a dating sim. Combat and stuff can be just cutscenes.

I think they should stick to one main character as long as supporting characters and common plots are the same. At least I just can´t feel the same playing my Warden than Hawke or Inqui, though it might also have to do with them being more of a blank (ironic losing there to a mute). It could have to do with not having enough background, Warden had the prologue, and Shepard has a bit of a background - I Remember Me in particular + Lone Survivor made me really care for Shep.

Anyway, plan a saga, keep the main character, then skip a generation or change main plot and characters and start again.

The next game needs to be like this:

Maybe a little easier for dem casuals, and with lots of romances.

To the OP: I don't know if I like this game as the new standard for future ones, but like you I'm a little tired of BioWare reinventing the wheel every time they decide to make a new Dragon Age game, and I'm a little tired of wondering how the new game will change mechanically instead of focusing on wondering how it will further the story, lore, characters, etc of the world. (DA:O a Baldur's Gate spiritual successor, DA2 being Mass Effect with swords, DAI being Skyrim with Qunari, etc.)

I guess I wouldn't mind DAI being DA's new thing, if they added more story and less open world for future games. (And if they fix the PC controls. "PC vs. Console gaming" argument aside, I'm offended that any self-respecting, professional, AAA gaming company tested these controls and said, "Yup. This is good enough to charge people $60-$70 for.")

Disagree completely. As DA:A proved, Bioware can't safely handle a PC without completely overwriting your character.

Bioware should make a Frostbite3 based dating simulators with trannies, mabari, darkspawn and horse romances. As they are inept at making RPGs, that'll be the best application of their abilities.

possible spoiler(s) so...

Spoiler

However, what this does leave is the possibility to expand on such themes. With the current art style of DA2.DAI, but with the darker vibe and feel of Origins could make for a killer game/expansion. More Dark Roads, darkspawn, meaningful & deep rooted political machinations, rivalries etc... [Less who, more what and why]. The possibility of rebuilding the Grey Wardens but even better just has such great appeal to me! I shall be vigilant :-)

Being underground (thaigs) in Inquisition is possibly the best part of the game. It looked and felt gritty and absolutely fantastic! Orzammar would be a very welcome addition to wander around in with DA:I and its frostbite engine.

I'm afraid that the extreme overabundance of fetch quests might be here to stay due to how many people have responded positively to them and will argue with you when you say you want something of more substance also :(

I don't know about this. I've read a whole lot more non-BSN reviews that complain about the "filler" than don't. I dont know that I've seen any dev responses to the criticism, but I have hope that they'll take it into consideration.

They'll respond to it when promoting DA4.  They always pan their last game when promoting their new one.

I really hope not. Inquisition is a huge step in the wrong direction. At least Dragon Age 2 had some redeeming features and was still very much like Origins. Inquisition, on the other hand, is the one title that tried to reinvent the wheel. From combat and questing to the facebook-esque war room and the mmo-style crafting. It's all stuff should be handled better or just scrapped.

Personally, I would even love to see silent PC again. Namely because the only voiced protagonist in a Bioware game that I ever liked was Fem Shep. I never managed to like Male Shep, the Inquisitor is just an emotionless slab and I don't really recall DA2 all that much. I just know sarcastic/humourous Hawke was not even remotely funny.

Origins definitely need make a return. Heck, unique Origin stories inplace of some vast area like the Hinterlands (that is littered with crap loot) would be far more enjoyable. An hour long opening area explaining how my Kadash or my Trevelyan would of been very helpful in gaining some perspective on their place in the game world. I'd wager it would also be helpful for new players to the series as well. Let's not go the Bethesda route in which the first or second quest has you fighting a massive dragon of closing a gate to hell. It's unfortunate there is never any build up to these epic encounters anymore.

I want them to fully ditch race selection and just allow one race an wholly develop that race regardless of what they choose, IE if Tevinter is the next location i want to be either someone who is enslaved by a Magister an maybe fights to power/freedom or maybe a Magisters son/daughter,the lone survivor of a power struggle, the direction BioWare is going the PC needs to have a better personal story and for me DA:I does not deliver on that
