How many of you out there who are complaining about how bad Inquisition is have actually gone and made a better game? Or played a game that hits 100% marks in all the points that are complained about?

It's just all the bitching is going overboard. Give people something great that can easily suck up over 100 hours of their life and they ****** that it's not good enough. Constructive criticism is great but come on- calling it the worst game ever is way over the top.

Ofc it isn't the worst. And in fact it's the reason people are going so mad!

You see, if something is all THAT bad that it's really unplayable nobody cries out 'make this! make that! improve this! add that!'. Players just leave the game to rest on a virtual shelf.

But if the game is controversial and has both VERY strong sides (as narrative, graphics, minigames) and VERY weak ones (bugs, lack of tactical combat, lack of content, face animation that gives me chills) ... Well, people are going to ask for more. Because DA:I actually CAN be next to perfect.

What a strange thing to say...

I think most people, who are complaining, are only asking for a game as good as ones they've made previously.

I always look at this a bit like...sports ...

People sitting at home on their couch, eating snacks and getting mad at their team not winning, or playing poorly in their opinion

"RUN FASTER, you lazy SOB!" *crunch crunch* ... "If I were on the field, I would have scored already 100 points!" *crunch crunch* "They should bring that new player and change the defenders!" *crunch crunch*

Of course I am not free from that behaviour as well, I critizied the hell out of ME3. Criticism is valid and needed. But sometimes ... some complaints are...*sigh*.. a wee bit tiresome and annoying in their hatred and negativity.

As we say in german: "Der Ton macht die Musik" which means if you want to sell your point of view you cannot scream and rant like some idiot, you have to watch your tongue, so people will actually listen to you and take you seriously...

Well, asking gamers about the games they made is a bit silly, don't you think? I only made one, as in I've written the story, dialogues and puzzles for an Indiana Jones like adventure game about a superhero. Took me ages and in the end it was never finished. Guess that doesn't count, eh?

The second question is easy: All the games BioWare made before were better. They set their own standard and then failed to reach it with DA:I. So we -know- they could do it, but for some reason they made curious decisions or ran out of time.

There is no such thing as a perfect game. Each and every one has its flaws, its bugs and its puzzling design decisions. But on the whole our favourite games got the important elements right and that meant we enjoyed playing them again and again. Considering that most of those games were made by BioWare it isn't unreasonable to ask for a game that provides the same enjoyment. If this was the first time they missed the mark, then people would be much more forgiving. It's the third time though and most people who are disappointed with them don't feel like giving them another chance.

I'm a programmer, but not a game dev, so I haven't worked on any computer games. However, I've run some tabletop sessions that I think had a better story than DA:I tbh (I'm probably sounding insolent here, but whatever).

Speaking of other (recent) games:

It can sound funny, but I liked Banner Saga story more than DA:I and found combat more tactical (lol). Also, main story is about as long as DA:I (very short),

I'm a huge XCom fan, XCom Ironman is still enjoyable for me. If someone took XCom tactical and strategic mode and combined it with DA setting, DA:O story and DA:I companions that would've been a perfect DA game to me.

I'm also a huge EU fan, but EU strategic mode for DA is probably too much to ask for,

Bioshock games have been great in terms of storytelling and I would trade DA:I butchered tactical combat for their action combat any time of day.

Tbh the only thing I find that Bioware still does great are companions and dialogues. That reminds me of watching Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards - separate dialogues are awesome but the whole movie is... ughm... let's say not

So you're saying I can't get pissy about the fact that the Crestwood thing never happens? Or no Day/Night cycle? Or the fact that it's not as open world as I was led to belive? Just because I haven't made a game or a better one?

Didn't you know that everyone who drives a car is also able to build one? From scratch? Better than the one they are driving currently? ;)

It is my right as a consumer to expect (and ******, if what I was promised was not delivered) good value for my money.

DAI is NOT a bad game, and I don't think many people come here to criticise the game in general. Most people are upset because of the technical problems with the game - especially the PC version, which isn't a PC version at all, really.

What Bioware delivered was a Top-of-the-line Ferrari with a shoddy steering system. That is why people are upset.

True, true.

Although I'd say they delivered a rally car made up to look like a Ferrari, which means it doesn't perform as well off-road. On top of the shoddy steering system. But it has heated cup holders and a surround sound system and all kinds of neat gadgets that you don't really need. It needs a huge amount of fuel though and for some drivers it doesn't start up or breaks down before reaching the destination.

Metaphors are fun. ;D

I love DAI, but I still think this is a silly argument. Much and all and I'd love to have a team of hundreds making my fantasy CRPG just the way I want it, that's obviously not a position most of us are ever going to be in. Even if I were, I can imagine plenty of people would hate my perfect game because it wasn't to their tastes.

(My game would totes have romanceable dwarves, though. So I guess it would be better than DAI in that regard.)

It is -not- an open world. They just increase map size and threw some useless features at it, so at first glance it looks similiar to an open world. That is definitely something one could complain about.

and exactly that was told before release. they never told it would be open world just way bigger maps and thats exactly the reality. developers are not responsible for people that cant distinguish between things the devs said, things you expect and pure wishes. they are also not responsible for people that doesnt inform themself before buying a game. learn to inform yourself and learn to stay connected to reality and there would be much less things to whine about.

While I have little experience with Open World games, I would say that the areas included in DAI are much like those seen and used in Skyrim and the DLC. A few vast maps, and then some smaller ones. But as another has indicted, Bioware is not responsible for folks having false expectations; tis what they had indicated, and what I hoped to see.

Aggressive much?

I'd copy/paste the description of DA:I from the Origin Store but the stupid piece of crap doesn't allow me to change the language to English, so it would be pointless.

They write about a "vast, changeable world" that you can "shape". Eh, yeah. Sure. Where? How?

Ok, how about this, taken verbatim from the BioWare News? "Massive and stunning: Dragon Age: Inquisition features a huge, multi-region open world to explore."

What was I supposed to expect when they talk about an open world? Not an open world?

Again, open world means more than large maps. Read this: http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Open_world

Besides reading game descriptions, I also chose to read and listen more from the Devs about what was coming. Full context. I received what was expected and anticipated, and still have much to explore.
