So, will we ever see a price drop on the major DLCs?

Essentially:

1) Played ME3's campaign pre-Extended Cut one time (from release day to the moment I finished it, about 4 or 5 days later).

2) Never re-played it since then (only played the multiplayer, which I love by the way, just not re-played the campaign).

3) Period of "hate" about the campaign as a whole (not just the ending) is definitely over; thoughts in retrospect done, yada yada, coming to terms with it, etc.

4) Would "like to" give it another go with the Extended Cut, and maybe two of the three major DLCs (still probably going to skip Omega, doesn't feel "connected" with the rest of the campaign, too isolated, etc... at least according to some reviews I read and forum posts).

5) Went to check on Origin for the first time in ME3's details since back in 2012, looking at the DLCs' prices...

6) Then realize that they're STILL priced the same as they've always been, even now with holiday sales happening left, right, up and down everywhere you look at on the web INCLUDING on Origin... except of course DLCs.

So... yeah I'm willing to actually pay to play the Citadel and Leviathan DLCs... and that, to me, is saying quite a lot.

But I won't pay those prices.

BioWare, if you read this, can you tell [us] me if their (Omega, Citadel and Leviathan) respective price will ever drop? Unfortunately you cannot just go on the "Store" to buy them separately. It can only be done via "BioWare Points" by right-clicking on the game's icon itself in the library and then going in "View Game Details" (where we can see the DLCs). I guess that's why their price haven't changed (because... it's still linked to BioWare Points? Is that why?). Anyway... maybe it's time to drop their prices a bit guys (or at least remove them from the BioWare Points system and place them as separate products that can be bought along side ME3? I don't know...).

I do not think we will see DLC prices coming down for quite some time.  Apparently there is a significant profit margin in keeping the DLC price the same.  By the time the DLCs are rolling out, you have everyone at peak efficiency in the company - and can turn and burn, so to speak.  Since the price of a DLC is far smaller than the cost of the original game, most people will go for it.

The unfortunate reality of the situation is described above. EA makes a massive profit by selling the base game cheap then charging the moon for DLC. A Bioware dev even explained it this way.

What is really bothersome is that while this logic makes sense, it seems we PC players are the only ones special enough to have it enforced. Console players have had many sales on all the DLCs from many Bioware games over the years, because it's Sony and Microsoft that controls their own stores.

PC players, on the other hand, haven't had a sale in about 3-4 years, and it seems like we'll continue to be ignored for a while longer. 'Sigh'

Yeah understandable (dislikeable, but understandable).

It's a question of money, and since it's a question of money for me as well I'll just keep it in my wallet instead.

I don't think that we're ever gonna see the DLC's coming down in price for one simple reason.  LotSB.   I can think of some people, possibly even myself, that would pay about $30 for that expansion.  It's that good.

EA or BioWare has seen this and gone" Ennhhh, you know what?   We'll give you the basic story line for $50.   Anything additional, we're gonna charge you for and keep charging you for."

They don't have complete control over the console DLC prices which is why we saw a half off sale as recently as September. They do have complete control over PC DLC prices which is why as stated they don't go on sale so they can milk us. Kind of a jerk move. All together with the base game price everything including DLC is still a good price IMO but still sucks we never get a deal. It's been talked to death on here and beaten to pieces with a stick, but nobody ever reads old threads.

I wasn't very surprised by the Trilogy Edition getting none of these DLCs, but I'd be much more surprised if the Next Gen Remaster (2015? 2016?) doesn't have it all (the playable content DLCs at least).

But yeah, this is stupid and I hate it. IMO the approx $50 for ME3 DLCs ought to be $20 tops by now, if not included in an Ultimate Edition of the game. At least during sales, ugh.

DAO has an ultimate for $25 right? There's some DLC in the ME trilogy package but there should be an all DLC version.

the Omega DLC is way better than Leviathan.

If you love a lot of good fights anyway, it's great. Leviathan just offers 3 missions basically, the rest is just a silly Sherlock Holmes story. I'd take Omega any day over Leviathan.

Just playing devils advocate here. What logical reason would there be for BW to do this? Moral hazard and all......

The logical reason being that they can either give a discount and sell some DLC, or keep the prices high and sell some diddly squat.

I didn't acquire ME3 when it came out and no DLC discounts are definitely not giving me any reason to do so.

Because most other games that have been out for a couple years get DLC discounts, I don't know what moral hazard you're talking about.

Look, the way that software developers figure it...   If you enjoy anything.  I mean, really really enjoy it...   Say, The Walking Dead (TV series).  Are you gonna buy their video games?  Are you gonna buy the comics?  Most people will.  So, why are they gonna drop the prices on these things to get people who are already gonna plop down X amount of money?  Just so that they can get two more people who aren't really fans of the show to walk in and buy it?

No.

It's the same way here.  Hell, look at Origin right now.  They are giving away video games.  Just to make it up on the back end with DLC's.

Try this method to lower their prices:
