I don't know, I'm becoming fond of "blasted in the face" myself.  A lot of that going around lately.   :D

Fantastic posts. You're the first I've seen who... oh wait...

Now a bit more details.

1. Gay people and their allies asking for representation or variety of representation does not equal "asking for advantages" unless you're an ignorant hypocrite.

2. People aren't idiots who got your brilliant message wrong. You either are incapable of proper language to articulate your ideas or you're simply as stated above.

3. "Excesive promotion of more gay options" Wow. I'm surprised... no, I'm SHOCKED you could refrain from using the ol' "gays shouldn't shove things down my throat" phrase.

4. You really like talking for everyone isn't it? With all the "we" you're using. That or you're royalty and used to talking using the majestic plural.

5. You tried to be clever and witty with the "ignorant straight myself" line, but it turns out you can be accurate about something... Guess about what...

6. So very magnanimous of you to admit you became selfish due to others being oh so selfish with their insane demands. It makes you more human. Really. No sarcasm. Get it?

I could go on a bit more, or you know, actually bother to argue against the nonsense that is your topic and silly preconceptions... but it's really not worth the effort. It was worth writting this semi joky post though. I had fun with it...  ^_^

I think I love you

I keep waiting for someone to accuse BioWare of pulling their hair, just for the trifecta of things it is inconsiderate to do during a particular act of love without asking first.

It's your title. It says something completely opposite. It has nothing to do with what you're expressing in the actual thread. And most people respond to just the title, quite often.

@Gaesesagai
Why so offensive?

First of all, mister elitist, it's not everyone who speaks english as a native language. A thing to consider before accusing anyone in misusing word or two?

Second, mister elitist, I'm clearly NOT homophobic. You could get that if you actually read what you recite.

Last one. Mister elitist, what makes you more intelligent than me to make verbal defecations like that?..

Thank you.

I was thinking of shoving down the throat, blasting in the face and pulling hair. Spanking without asking would also be rude, but I imagine most people would find it difficult to reach  .

"BioWare is smacking my arse with all these gay relationships!"  There you go.  ;)

I think my all time favorite just before release was "Lesbians got the shaft for romances" from a lesbian player.  Maria (long time forum vet and a lesbian) pointed out the irony behind that statement as well.

@Tev0s: When you edit your post, they'll be an option to do Use Full Editor that'll you'll be able to see next to Save changes.  That will allow you to edit the thread title.

Well if it's solely about next game in the series then it's okay I think... Maybe I'm just too tired and pinchy? Gotta get some drinks and relax, it's Goddamn Christmas today for all of the Saints...

You just blasphemed Christmas in a "too many gays" thread.

Sorry for misleading everyone here. I'm not asking developers to do anything.

I'm asking community members to cease excessive promotion of more gay options.

BioWare will tend to share information to indicate that there is a range of oriented content,

so that those who wish it know.

The gaming press will then get very excited and talk about it at length.

Because other studios are less open minded, it's news and sex sells.

Youtube will then get very toxic, the phobes will crawl out from under their stones and whine about pandering.

Before long you would think BioWare is making some kind of campaign.

They are not - they are just trying to be even handed.

Much of the perception of an 'agenda' is created by an endless succession of posts, both constructive, whining and unpleasant, on the topic.

You know, it happens, and you're being cool about it.  I think all of us are a little selfish, regardless of orientation.   <hug>

It's just frustrating in the LGBT community to read this time and time again.  Many of us that have been here for awhile have heard this too many times, and I'm betting the frustration in Dave's post was a reflection of that.

What can really get to me and other folks is some of the double standards.  If the LGBT community starts a thread about romance, most of the time we're only talking about the future.  Okay, there is a few that have trouble letting the Cullen thing go, but I can say that it doesn't really reflect the LGBT fans on the BSN as a whole very well.

For the most part (can't speak for everyone,) we wouldn't want them to add any sort of romance arc just for us as a DLC or patch.    The double standards come in when those threads are flooded with a lot of comments from men declaring their heterosexuality and telling us we should "stop asking for a dating sim" and that "straight men got shafted in this game" because they got "only" two romances.  Which is the same as they've ever had.

I'm not applying this to all or even most straight men on the forums.  For the most part, either they are supportive or just indifferent to romances, so long as folks are enjoying it.

Meanwhile, I know that both dave and I have seen similar requests for straight romances.  Which hey, all good and I encourage anyone to offer new ideas.  What is maddening is that we've seen those same folks that throw dating sim comments at us, then post in those threads asking for more straight relationships for men, without making the same comments.  In short, for some, it's only a dating sim if the LGBT community offers suggestions.   That's without getting into the tiresome stereotype that bi/pansexuals automatically are bigger cheaters than straight folks and that's why a bisexual woman to romance in DA:I isn't "good enough."

In the KISA thread alone I can't tell you how many times we had to explain that, unlike some of the other threads out there, we weren't asking for a romance DLC for this game.  I also don't want to count how many people have told us we're asking for a bunch of sex dolls.  The worst is getting those kinds of remarks from people that then start demanding that BioWare "owes straight guys more romance" and have asked them to patch (yes, patch) in a companion with a new romance.  And they generally don't get those kinds of snide remarks.

I'm not trying to come down on you, just trying to give you a little perspective as to how some in the LGBT community are feeling when they read threads like this.  I figure if you didn't mean any harm, I won't take any.  Christmas is stressful enough.   :)

Yeah, no stress... life and Christmas are stressful enough... *opens wallet, and a moth flys out* Told ya ^_^'

Yep.  A point that's lost every time I see someone whining that "BioWare pushed all this gay stuff in their promotion."  I remember the first big article regarding Dorian, not too long after he had his name released and we could stop calling him Dramatic Hands Mustache Guy (long story.)  David Gaider said a few lines near the end of article, confirming that Dorian was "fully gay" and not bisexual.  That was it, no joke.  It was every other fan or gaming news site out there that took it and ran with it.  Sera's orientation was let out early, but not by much and much of that was due to a show featuring a cosplaying contest.  The devs thought the show would air after they revealed Sera being a lesbian (since she's also the first that wasn't 1/2 dummied out of the game ala KotOR,) but it aired about a week earlier than expected.

After that, all of the official advertising, interviews and promotions for the company have focused on the usual promotional stuff: Gameplay changes, story ideas and just talking about the characters in general, possible merch, ect.   The romances aren't apart of any official trailer and, honestly, most of the interviews don't talk about romances much at all unless it's something the interviewer decides to bring up.

Merry Christmas/Happy Yule/middle of the week and I hope you're safe out there.  Even if you don't celebrate the holidays, too many people do and then think they can drive.

OP you shouldn't feel required to re-edit anything if you didn't intend to. Express your opinions any way you like. If some people on this forum want to get upset and lash out because your opinion is against their own then let them. I swear BSN nowadays you have to "agree with what I agree with or you're wrong".

Freedom of Expression is a basic human right, don't let anyone bully you into saying something different.

However if you truly did intend your original post to be whatever it is now then disregard this.

That said, on the topic: Alot of people's problems aren't with the quantity of Romance options, it's the quality of the Options that most are unhappy with(gotta put IMO because some people will cry that I'm talking for them >.>)

Yeah, I just love it when heterosexual people call the gay romances 'unrealistic' and 'stereotypical'.

Always informed by one of their many gay friends, of course.

Can't say I'd ever know what a "realistic" gay romance could be as I'm not gay, but I agree none the less. To me it's no different than when someone says "my" options are just fine, that my standards are unrealistic lol.

Freedom of speech(in this case freedom of text) is a basic human right, don't let anyone bully you into saying something different.

1. OP realized his initial post didn't reflect his intentions and then asked for help. We helped. This is unrelated to his opinion and/or our agreement with it.

2. Freedom of Speech is a political right, it means you can express your opinion without fearing prosecution from the government just for disagreeing. Nothing more, nothing less. It does not mean you can say whatever you want without consequences. Your opinion is not something sacred, you are accountable for it. You probably mean Freedom of Expression, which is a basic human right recognized under the UDHR.

All those rights do not protect you when you infringe on the rights of another person. You are free to tell someone "I do not like how you do things." but you can't tell them "You suck, you idiot!" because that's an insult and infringes on their personal rights.

Long story short: Don't hide behind Freedom of Speech, because it doesn't protect you from any and all consequences. It's not carte blanche to say whatever you want, especially not if it's discriminatory.

3. Yep, none of the romances appeal to me.
