Every area has it's theme music, and it is almost all fantastic. It all sets the mood of each place as much as the weather and the vegetation and the animals. Overall, well done Bioware.
Except the Exalted Plains.
The Exalted Plains is a very well-written area, in terms of story. it is also quite beautiful (i love the contrast of war and destruction and dead-walking with the fields of grass and the lovely clear sky...very haunting). It has some of the most interesting and dramatic side quests of any area in the game...if you like all the civil war stuff, which I personally do.
But instead of being able to enjoy it and really getting into talking with soldiers I meet and the Dalish and all that, I find myself listening to that horrific one, low, constant, mind-numbing note that plays in the background the WHOLE TIME!
Am I the only one that hears it? Am I going mad? Does anyone else hear it????????
It is so awful and kinds makes me feel a little ill when I play that area. Seriously. It makes me feel like I am being strangled slowly. Or like I am listening to the hum of pipes while drowning in a friggen bathtub.
I find myself focusing on that horrific sound and it seems to get louder and louder until it is like nails on a chalkboard. It is not haunting, as I am assuming was the intention. It is just...gross sounding.
Seriously, does anyone else know what I am talking about?
Remember the horrible one-note theme song of Eyes Wide Shut? It is like that...except there is not even the relief of someone banging the same damned key aver and over. it is just...sustained and miserable and just...why? why? Why?
It is so terrible to me that for my completionist playthrough, I have to pop in and out of the area in short bursts to finish stuff because I cannot stand that horrible note.
So, since this is a small thing and will likely not be fixed by Bioware, could someone please have mercy on me and tell me how to delete that music file so I never have to hear it again? Or how to switch the file with something else? Or how to make it turn off? Please, please, anything you can do to help!!!!
