Reaver and Katari can't do it either. I mean those mobs with a 1H sword.

Its fun watching them block 16 arrow from a leaping shot with just a sword.  The shield guy can't even do that.

Personally I like when they block my katari's charge, then block my follow-up whirlwind so I'm sitting there with half my abilities on cooldown and my ass hanging in the wind.

Brutes? Those big Venatori with two-handeds? No, you can still block and slash them. Just do it twice in a row, or finish them off before they can slash again.

 

Anyway here's the best advice I can give you: Get Gud.

It's limitlessly amusing watching my character using three of its 20 second cooldown abilities on the lowest tier enemy in the game and yet it somehow blocks every single one as all 7 of them that somehow blocked all of the repeated attacks at once with no damage at all and a bottomless stamina bar surround my character and stab his befuddled arse.

That's your problem, you don't get Whirlwind on Katari.

I play Katari all the time, because getting a good score as him feels rewarding. Of course he is too fragile for perilious right now (and I still don't have a decent weapon for him).

 

I'd say it is the other way around, good players should avoid playing braindead classes like AW not to get into bad habits like thinking you're immortal 90% of the time.
