I'd like to ask whether an irregular-shaped metatile would still conceal unopened rooms on the mini-map? For example, in the D&D-style map below:

would a metatile of 314-315-316 keep the individual rooms concealed if the C3 mesh is properly in place and the intervening doors have not been opened? Likewise for 301-302-303-304-305?

I'd like to find out before I spend a bunch of time creating a particular metatile, only to find out the mini-map doesn't hide the individual rooms.

Yes I know I could use the FoW method. :)

Thank you.

I don't know the answer, but I do have a question about what you said.  What is the FoW method?  I'm curious if it's similar to, or the same as, a technique I've used myself on a problem tile or two, where they appeared on the minimap (and the player could see into the room in exploration mode) even when the doors were closed and the player hadn't been in.  I placed one of those black blocks into the room to hide it, with the door scripted to destroy the block when the player opened the door.

FoW == Fog of War == big black block

Sorry, I didn't mean to ask what FoW stood for, but the method used in employing it.  It sounds like you're saying it's accomplished in the same way, though.

here's a question: Can those black blocks even be angled to fit against nonorthoganal walls like those in the map?

Certainly.  You just need several, arranged, rotated, and sized appropriately.  I used them as part of the process of making the circular rooms in my module.

Okay, well it sounds like I'll need to run a test of some sort; hopefully something that'll come together fairly quickly.
