Sooooo I just want to know I there's somebody out there who let Cullen start to drinking lyrium again after months of hardship.
I just to know if there's a good reason to allow him back to lyrium (because I can't think of any) and I want to let him start drinking lyrium again to see how it will affect him and I don't want to if there's no good reason behind it. ![]()

I made him give up lyrium and I did not understand how he got better all of a sudden... I mean, he was pretty sick for not taking and he himself says that not taking it can kill him. And after I make him stop, nada.... he is fine problem seems solved.
I'd like to know as well what happens if I do the opposite.

Well, it's treated like withdrawal from a drug addiction. I just headcanon that he hasn't been taking it long enough (in Templar years) for it to make him go crazy, and that the day you do talk to him about it is one of his "bad days."

If Cullen continues to take lyrium his outlook on the mage-templar conflict is different, but I don't think anything else is different.

If you're in a relationship with Cullen and you convince him to take lyrium again he will end the relationship shortly after, saying that he cannot afford any distraction from his duties.

I allowed him to resume taking lyrium, and the Inquisition suffered no ill effects.

Only if you force him to take it through the harsher dialogue option. If you use the nicer option to tell him to keep taking lyrium for now, but you'll find another way once the war is over, he'll continue the romance as usual.

I persuaded Cullen to stop taking Lyrium... since it messes you up in a bad way. Now imagine he had RED Lyrium on the Table ![]()

I don't think Lyrium is permanently addictive, otherwise there'd be no point to not going off it.
It CAN kill you but it doesn't HAVE to.

I don't think anyone would've let Cullen take red lyrium. Cassandra would've kicked the Inquisitor's ass if they did something that stupid
I would have kicked my Inquisitor's ass if they did something that stupid.
Personally I trust Cassandra's judgement on the situation. If she says he doesn't need to start taking it again, I'm going to trust her on that. 'sides, my Cullenmance inquisitor can look after him, and if it gets too bad there's other options, such as lowering dosages or finding a substitute and slowly lowering dosages for that to help him quit without as strong of withdrawal symptoms.

Cullen is fine as long as he doesn't start selling himself for lyrium hits like Samson.

That was my reasoning as well. If Cassandra says it's ok, then it's ok. Although I did feel a little guilty when Cullen said that his nightmares are worse without the lyrium.

Nightmares can be overcome with time, and while they are worse now they can get better as he comes to terms with the events that caused them. I think its more important he start dealing with them now, especially with such good support other members of the inquisition would give him if he needed it. Especially Cole. Cole is like the creepy little guardian angel of the inquisition xD

I don't think there's a substitute for lyrium in its effects on organism.

My human SnS just became a templar, you gotta make lyrium bottle
highly ironic, since I'm romancing Cullen- you're getting him off the stuff, while you're starting to take it

It was a no-brainer for me. You can always headcanon the specifics, but I wasn't about to let him keep on the addition.

I think there are ambient messenger dialogues if you don't romance him that indicate he may turn to drink if you aren't romancing him, but that's not all that uncommon I don't think ... for an addict to switch one addiction for another as a means of quitting.

Seemed kind of shoehorned for Cullenites. But I still didn't make him drink it again, even though I really wanted to. But Cassandra got to me, damnit, lol.
Basically I saw this as the most inopportune time to start kicking the habit while we were busy and he was leading my men. So in service of the cause, I considered it selfish and stupid. But if Cassandra thinks he can handle it, then **** it.

Does he mention this at all? You would think he'd be concerned about his girlfriend developing an addiction he has firsthand experience with.

I haven't spoken to him about that..... it' be really freaky if there was nothing about it
I mean, I know it's hanwave for being the almighty PC toon, but.....the trainer/lyrium philter is part of the templar quest....
I heacanon that my gal will take it slowly, then once this is over, work herself off the stuff
