Positively emaciated. He happens to be a mage so I can kind of get that but he is insanely skinny to the point of it not looking healthy. Has anyone else noticed this?
So I decided to make a male elf character and he looks like a forced starvation victim...

Should've been a qunari or dwarf. They have meat on their bones

Elves are not people.
Never been an elf.
Arms snap too easily.

But I wanted to romance Dorian so I had to be a male. And I wanted to experience the game from the elven Mage perspective. I really wish I had done human male noble rogue and elven female Mage.

Yeah, the same applies for females... They already looked like that in DA2. I remember when I first saw Merril. I was like wtf...
she looked like a giant bug. Slim body, big eyes and a small head. The elves should've stayed like the elves in DAO.

My Male Elven Rogue is the same. Unfortunately all elves have the same body type. It is possibly for this reason why Sera has a human female body. My second playthrough is with a Qunari female. I much enjoyed the elf with the posh British accent. He just seems so much more natural than my lumbering qunari.

The only reason I played an elf is because I got that feeling that I belong somewhere...We are dalish let's help each other out and stick together. This made up a bit for their awful looks. But all in all they don't fit the role of the inquisitor very well. As a warden they were fine, but seems that the game was designed for a human noble.

They should let you adjust their body weight. I kinda think if they sneeze too hard they will fall over.

I have to say though, regardless of the body models used for the elf. I honestly feel like my elf characters are more fitting as inquisitor. With all the focus on elven gods and Solus talking to you so much more openly, it felt far more real.
My first human female character was actually shocked that she didn't get the 'fade' scene when she talked to Solus at Skyhold the first time. How could people miss that?

Does anybody know the reason why they made them so skinny ? People complained that they were too human in DAO ?

We wanted them thinner, lithe wiry in DAO, we hated the flat nose bridge in DAII, now we hate the slender, elves they gave us. Really get over it, these are the best so far, beats DAII faces for sure, and they are slender, wiry, lithe looking as elves should be. I just want them to be taller and, the makes to have more defined muscles, or develop them as the game progresses.
I'd love muscle mass, hip, waist and, breast sliders for all races, allow more variation in appearance, but that's me.

I don't even understand how the whole staff in Bioware could agree that the male elf body was "Ok gentlemn, let's make them like that !" ![]()
Making them skinny and tiny doesn't really bother me and tbh I really liked their DA2 version because they were different from the all the elves we've seen in other games, books, movies,... etc.
But where in the hell are their shoulders ? And why their arms looks broken when they stands up ? WHYYYYYY BIOWARE !!! ![]()

It looks really bad. The female elf being spindly and hunched over is bad enough, but I am sorry for the male elf models. Keep them in good armor and keep your eyes half closed during the Skyhold cutscenes.

I'm not usually one to complain about stuff like this but I agree that the elf models are disgusting looking. I started to play with a female elven archer and I had to stop because watching her shoot a bow with those twig arms was just laughable. The human female is not much better tbh.

There's two thoughts when developing fantasy:
1. We need to make this exactly like Lord of the Rings
2. We need to make this exactly like Lord of the Rings except for a few insignificant differences so that we can pretend to be unique
Probably the best example of this is in the Eragon series, where dwarves have seven toes.
"Why do dwarves have seven toes", you might ask.
I read like, three of the books for some reason, and it doesn't ever matter. I can't even imagine a way it could ever matter. The series essentially just says "don't you worry about why dwarves have seven toes, let me worry about blank."
Dragon Age does this with elves. It feels like the writers wanted to be able to brag to other fantasy writers at some big fantasy writer wine mixer. "Yeah, our elves are different, they're not just humans with pointy ears. They're humans with pointy ears and weird nose bridges!"
Except that was mostly scrapped, too.
Now, they're just "humans with pointy ears that need to eat some more."
If any of the writers is reading this:
No. One. Cares. If. Races. Are. Exactly. Like. Tolkein's. Versions.
