The male elf really could do with a few decent meals
So I decided to make a male elf character and he looks like a forced starvation victim...

In this franchise when I've been offered the option, I've usually played more elves than any other race. I like the lithe, slimmer elves and feel that this body type suits them. Elves should be thin, supple and graceful!

I like that they are skinny but why did they have to be that skinny? I also agree that the arms look awful. ![]()

I wouldn't call emaciation a grace. When they look like they'd break if they bend, that's as far from grace as ton of fat.

They should have had dancer bodys, they are thin but powerful atleast the dancers I've seen.

I tried to let myself be convinced by some of the pro "lithe" body-type comments here, after deleting my elven chars six times before(including the Qunari ones - don't like them). Created two(male and female) yesterday... I tried... really, I did. I just cannot stand the look they have in DAI in combat. Their accents I totally love and I accept lithe "slim" body-type thought process too, but what we have in this game is a travesty. Also Merill's nose bridge(all elves in DA2) was well... I can just hope.

I deleted the male elf too, at least the female is proportional.

Can we get a DLC where we can edit body types slightly. Either that or make an extra Elf origin, let me be the Elf who stole the other Elf lunches.

They're elves, not humans. Slimmer bones, slimmer bodies.
If my human inquisitor looked like that I'd be screaming, but they don't. They look like healthy proportioned people.

I don't mind them being skinny even compared to ancient elves because it fits with the backstory but the broken arms are ridiculous. It's less noticeable on female elves until your forced to wear the Skyhold pjs.
Which makes me hate that outfit even more.

A few body type choices for each race would of been nice.

People can be slim without looking like starvation victims..

I don't know about you people, but I've really enjoyed playing as a male elf rogue so far. I also gave him a sickly pale complexion, some scars and dark circles around his eyes. It's a nice contrast, seeing how someone who looks so fragile could hold so much power.

Bioware keeps telling us elves are unusually beautiful, but all I see are a bunch of short, anorexic people...
Not to mention the alien-like elves from DA 2. Goddamn...

What's strange is that elves are supposed to be the beautiful race, yet they now look hideous.
Yep. Just like Tolkien's elves are supposed to look: descendants of an immortal race, with a millenial legacy, legendary beauty and all that.
Instead, well...I guess a few thousand years can change even princes and princesses into pointy-eared dwarves.

What's the difference in appearance between a "forced" starvation victim and an "unforced" starvation victim? ![]()

holy frack people. there is no reason to be rude.
i have a friend who is as naturally thin as the female elf and she certainly isn't a "starvation victim", "anorexic", or "sickly". in fact, she was telling me how happy she was to finally have a playable body type that reflects her and she was really excited to play as an elf. edit: and i should say, she is. she has the game now.
if you don't want to play a thin race, don't play the race that is described as being thin? people keep comparing solas and sera, but they look like human bodies. what's the point of having a different race if they are just shorter humans?
yes, customizable sliders would be awesome. but having to animate scenes and fit armor for four races, two genders, and then even more body types for each race/gender combo probably isn't going to happen. instead we get four races with varying body types. if playing a really thin person isn't your thing, play a different race. that's what i do! (except i did play a female elf to romance solas. bald elf nerd.)

I like them being shorter, but I think my female elf definitely could've used more muscular arms. I'm not going to be making a female warrior Lavellan for that reason.
I don't think the male Lavellan's arms would look so bad if it wasn't for that weird bug with the folded-in arms. Looking at him compared to Solas, he could use slightly broader shoulders too.

I think it also depends on the armour, my female elf doesn't look half bad in ancient elven robes or warden enchanter armour or w/e it's called. The skyhold pj's however make her look spindly and buglike, another reason why I hate them. So basically we need more armour fitting the elven bodytype.

I made an Elven Two Handed Warrior. I like to pretend that he's so badass in combat because he vents all his anger at the 'injustices' done against his people after Red Crossing. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to lift his Greatsword. I'll probably make him a Reaver.
