Actually, yes, a lot of people clamoured for a romanceable female elf at the time. I thought Merrill and Sera might satisfy this faction, but I hear that for a lot of people the appeal is being able to play a male elf and romance a female elf. As someone whose wish is to play a dwarf and romance another dwarf, I sort of understand.

 

(Although not really about the gender specification. At this point, I would cheerfully take a dwarf romance of any gender and orientation, as long as they liked dwarves. At least people who want to play elves and romance other elves have Zevran, Sera and Solas across the series as a whole, even if Zevran is the only one who can be romanced by male elves specifically.)

It would have been awesome if they added fem Qunari LI. Maybe next game, hopefully. But still, dwarf romance is overdue!

I think those at bioware took a great effort in trying to give as much diversity to romance options as they could. We can't really blame them if we don't find exactly what we are looking for, they have already done too much to try to please us.

 

I'm currently trying to hit on Josephine and I found that I hate her: she is a spoiled noblewoman that can't bear to live in adverse situations. She is also the greatest gossip girl I've ever met, even in real life, and that scene in which she starts talking **** about your companions just like it was funny pisses me off a great deal. Too bad that I have no better option: I'm roleplaying an atheist Inquisitor, so I can't really romance Cassandra, since she is all about the chantry and gets upset if you try to explain her that you are not the chosen of Andraste. Sera doesn't like men, Vivienne treats you like she was your mother and feels like she has to teach you everything... anyone else? I think the game doesn't allow you to hit on Leliana and I think that is for the best, since it wouldn't be realistic if she fell in love with every hero she met.

 

I wrote down my thoughts on female romance options in this game to make a point: we can't blame Bioware developers if the characters they provided us with don't satisfy us: even in real life it's difficult to find the perfect match and they have already gone too far in terms of diversity in order to try to please everyone.

 

My current character is romancing Josephine and I took that scene to be her blowing off steam, not gossiping. She spends all day long corresponding with all sorts of people, trying to keep her "game face" on so as to present the Inquisition in the best light possible. Your Inquisitor finally makes a connection with her where she feels comfortable dropping out of "Diplomat Mode" for a moment and she lets loose with some of her frustration.

Doesn't seem like elf male is being singled out, despite the OP's best efforts to portray it that way.
